    From wonderful start to neglect

I moved in when it was initially wonderful, but it became a nightmare—management and caretakers were inconsistent, I was neglected and dropped to 78 pounds. After removal, I’m now thriving at 115 pounds in a clean, quiet, secure place with attentive caregivers, delicious food, and owners who do a good job.

    Summary review

Overall impression: The reviews present a sharply mixed picture of AAA Jerusalem Star, with some reviewers offering praise for the facility and others reporting very serious negative experiences. Several comments highlight a calm, well-maintained property with attentive staff and good food, while at least one account describes a dramatic deterioration in care culminating in alleged neglect and severe weight loss. The overall sentiment is polarized rather than uniformly positive or negative.

Care quality: Care reports are contradictory and appear to vary greatly by resident and/or over time. Positive reviews describe "perfect care," attentive caregivers, and successful nutritional support. In stark contrast, a severe negative report alleges neglect and near-starvation, with the resident's weight falling to 78 pounds before being removed from the facility. After removal, that resident reportedly regained weight to 115 pounds and received adequate attention and nutrition elsewhere. This juxtaposition suggests either inconsistent care practices within the facility or a significant decline in standards at some point.

Staff and management: Staff performance is similarly divided in the reviews. Multiple reviewers call the caregivers "very nice," and note particular strengths such as caregivers specializing in cooking. Owners are described positively by some, with one comment that "owners did good job." However, management and staffing are also criticized for being inconsistent, and reviewers explicitly cite inconsistent caretakers. The combination of praise for some staff members and allegations of inconsistent management points to variability in staff training, supervision, or turnover as potential issues.

Facilities and environment: The facility's physical characteristics receive uniformly positive mentions. Reviewers describe the site as nice, quiet, located in a pleasant neighborhood, security protected, and equipped with fire sprinklers. Cleanliness is reported favorably. These consistent comments indicate that the property itself and basic safety features are strengths of the facility.

Dining and nutrition: Dining is a frequently praised area, with multiple mentions of "delicious food" and caregivers who are "specialized in cooking." These comments align with the positive accounts of nutrition and meal quality. However, the serious allegation of starvation in one review directly contradicts these positive notes and raises a critical concern about reliability of meal delivery or monitoring of intake for vulnerable residents.

Patterns and notable concerns: The most notable pattern is inconsistency: several reviewers describe excellent care and management, while at least one account describes a dramatic and dangerous lapse in care that required removal of the resident. The extreme nature of the negative report (severe weight loss to 78 pounds) stands out as a red flag and is likely to be of primary concern to families evaluating the community. The presence of both glowing and grave reports suggests either episodic failures, staffing or management turnover, or the possibility that some residents receive markedly different levels of attention.

Implications for decision-making: Based strictly on these reviews, AAA Jerusalem Star shows clear strengths in facility upkeep, environment, and culinary offerings, but also carries a serious reported risk related to inconsistent management and potential neglect for at least some residents. Prospective residents and families should treat the reviews as mixed evidence and pursue direct verification: visit the facility, meet current caregivers and management, ask about staffing ratios and turnover, inquire about nutrition and weight-monitoring protocols, and review inspection or complaint records where available. The conflict between highly positive and extremely negative experiences makes due diligence essential before deciding on this community.
