The Alternative House

The Alternative House, run by Community Alternative House, helps people who have mental health and behavioral health needs, and the place feels safe and homey with care that fits each person, especially seniors who may need live-in caregivers or a bit of daily help like reminders to take medicine, or help with dressing, bathing, or just getting around. The care team there focuses on assisted living for elders, and they've got something called "multi-unit housing with services," which means several folks live together in shared spaces but still get one-on-one attention when they need it, and the staff helps anybody who needs memory care, like seniors with Alzheimer's or dementia, by making sure the layout is easy and safe, so wandering off or feeling confused happens less. There's a special attention to comfort, so things like incontinence care are looked after quietly and thoroughly, and the team pays attention to meals by making specialty dishes for people with special diets, and they allow pets, which means some folks get to keep their companion animals with them. Seniors who still want to stay active can go to the park next door for walks or picnics, and trips happen sometimes to a nearby theater for movies or live shows, and there are plenty of choices for eating out, with about 15 restaurants close by and two cafes if anyone wants a coffee or something different. For health needs, there are two doctors and two pharmacies in the area, so getting care or medicine is simple, and the setting itself is meant to feel like a neighborhood, where people really live with each other, instead of being all spread apart. The Alternative House is what's called a Board and Care Home, which means it offers both a place to live and personal care, and the environment tries to keep things lively but safe, making sure people feel both looked after and part of a community.
