Lu-Syl House sits in a quiet neighborhood in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and works as an assisted living and board and care home for men aged 51 to 80. The house keeps things small and simple, with just four beds-two shared rooms and one private room-so residents can get more tailored attention. Staff help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, and medication management, and they offer incontinence care when needed. The community accepts pets, so residents can bring their small animal companions, and the outdoor smoking area gives folks a place if they smoke. Memory care services are available for those with dementia or Alzheimer's, and the team plans memory-focused activities in a secure environment. Residents who need skilled nursing after surgery or illness get help with wound care and ongoing medical needs, but there's no live-in staff. Lu-Syl House includes internet access and a TV in every bedroom, provides laundry and housekeeping, and will help with transportation so residents can run errands or get to appointments. There's a park nearby for walks, a theater for local events, plus 21 restaurants, two cafes, 23 pharmacies, and nine physicians close by, with four hospitals in the area if emergencies happen. The house is two miles from a community mental health center and a peer support center and takes seniors referred through the RSS system. House rules keep things straightforward, and even though the community isn't a member of OACFA, it's still meant to feel like home where residents can live as independently as possible while getting the help they need.
