    Mom loves beautiful clean community

I moved my mom here and she absolutely loves it. The grounds and units are beautiful, larger and very clean, with friendly staff and helpful management - great location and good value with utilities included. I'd highly recommend it for independent living.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment across the reviews is positive: reviewers repeatedly praise The Village at Redlands for being clean, well-maintained, and offering friendly staff and good value. Multiple commenters highlight the location and the condition of the grounds and buildings, calling the facilities larger, better, and cleaner than alternatives. Several reviewers explicitly state they would recommend the community and one notes a family member "loves it here," indicating strong satisfaction among some residents and families.

Staff and care: staff friendliness is a clear strength mentioned across reviews, with many observers noting positive interactions with employees. At the same time, reviewers also mention limited staffing levels, which is a concern to some. In terms of care model, the community is described consistently as independent living appropriate for residents with low care needs. Reviews note that the community allows external care services if additional help is needed, but it is not set up to provide higher-level care on-site. This makes the community a fit for independent seniors who need minimal assistance or who plan to contract outside care providers, but not for those with substantial or increasing medical and daily living needs.

Facilities and value: the Village at Redlands is repeatedly described as well-maintained and clean, with reviewers calling out both the buildings and the grounds. Many reviewers describe the pricing as a good value, noting utilities-inclusive or all-inclusive pricing as a positive feature. There is appreciation for the perceived affordability relative to the quality of the facilities. However, there is also a recurring note that cottages—while considered attractive—are relatively pricey and that apartment availability can be limited or nonexistent at times.

Dining and housekeeping: a prominent and consistent negative theme is dining and housekeeping. Multiple reviews explicitly state that no meals are provided; a few clarify the dining situation by saying only lunch is served in certain housing options. Others say "no meals provided currently." In-room housekeeping is also noted as not provided. These points suggest that potential residents should expect limited or no on-site dining and limited housekeeping services; families should plan accordingly, either by arranging their own meals or by using outside services.

Activities and community life: reviewers point out a diversity of activities, indicating there are organized options for social and recreational engagement. While many reviewers view community life positively, one or two reviews mention social fit concerns—phrases such as "didn't like the people" indicate that the social atmosphere may not suit everyone. This is typical for communal living environments and suggests prospective residents should visit and assess the social dynamics personally.

Notable patterns and recommendations: collectively, the reviews paint The Village at Redlands as a clean, well-located, and friendly independent living community that offers good value—particularly for those who do not require meals, in-room housekeeping, or higher-level medical care. The allowance of external care services is an advantage for residents who may need occasional additional help. Key trade-offs are limited staffing, no or limited meal service (only lunch in some cases), absence of in-room housekeeping, and higher cost for cottages with limited apartment availability. Most reviewers would recommend the community, but it is best suited for active, low-care seniors who value cleanliness, location, and straightforward inclusive pricing while being prepared to manage or outsource meals and housekeeping.

Practical takeaway: based on the reviews, The Village at Redlands is a strong option for independent seniors seeking a clean, friendly, and well-kept community with utilities included and a good perceived value. Prospective residents and families should verify current availability (especially apartments vs. cottages), confirm the exact dining and housekeeping offerings, and consider whether outside care services will be needed to fill any gaps in support.

    About The Village at Redlands

The Village at Redlands sits at 301 Wabash Ave in Redlands, CA and offers a mix of living options for seniors, with services built around privacy, independence, and safety, and you'll see apartments and cottages that can fit one or two bedrooms from 632 to 1,144 square feet, some with private patios, garages, and yards, so there's enough room to move around and you'll find step-in showers, full kitchens, washers and dryers, and cable TV with all utilities paid. The place is made for people 62 and older who want either independent living, assisted living, or memory care, so folks needing support for dementia or Alzheimer's will get tailor-made care plans and extra safety features, like sprinkler systems, handicap access, and secure entrances. Meals and dining are available, but in independent living, there's no in-room housekeeping or meal service, letting people keep their own routines, with plenty of help there if it's needed, including personal care assistants and walking or wheelchair assistance. You'll see staff who are friendly, but the team's not very big, and they try to listen to each person's needs and stick to individual preferences, keeping things personal even though the property isn't fancy.

There are things like a game room, fitness center, salon, crafts and movie nights, regular coffee hours for socializing, and transportation for shopping or appointments, with activities every month including bingo, fall festivals, Super Bowl parties, Lunch Bunch outings, and pet-friendly features, although some rules apply about sizes and breeds, but there's a spot to walk the dog and places for waste. The community lets people pay under a month-to-month rental lease with a $500 security deposit, and there are a few low-income units for those who qualify, as well as cottage homes for more privacy. Safety features run throughout the buildings, with special attention paid to medication management, home security, and medical alerts, with extra help for hearing aids and cell phones if someone needs a Jitterbug or likes Consumer Cellular, and they've also got resources for choosing internet plans with providers suited for seniors like Xfinity and AT&T or guides for picking a medical alert system from models such as Bay Alarm Medical or Medical Guardian.

The Village at Redlands gives you options to pay with long-term care insurance, and before moving in, people can visit for a tour or meet others in the caregiver support forums, with ongoing events to help folks stay engaged, like crafts, bingo, arts, and education programs that aim to keep the mind sharp. Folks who want a quiet home, friendly neighbors, and maybe a cup of coffee at daily coffee time usually find the place calm and well-kept, and while it isn't the biggest or flashiest community, the basics are covered-utilities, safety, meals, and social events-so people can focus on living the way they want as they age.
