    Quiet riverside community, excellent amenities

I live here and appreciate the quiet, peaceful river views and boardwalk. My apartment has big windows, large rooms and a huge walk-in closet, with wheelchair-accessible bathrooms. The food area is wonderful and there are regular activities, outings, a library, painting spaces and an on-site beauty parlor. The community is friendly, facilities are well-kept and clean, and the location is very convenient to stores and a park. Overall I'm very pleased.

    Summary of reviews

Serenity Towers on the St. Johns offers a number of physical and programmatic strengths that will appeal to prospective residents seeking a quiet, scenic setting. The facility sits on the river with a boardwalk and ample windows that emphasize the views. Resident accommodations are described as spacious, with large rooms and walk-in closets, and bathrooms that accommodate wheelchair access. Common areas and offices are generally well kept, and the community atmosphere is characterized as peaceful and welcoming.

Amenities and daily life receive positive mention: the dining space overlooks the river, there is an on-site beauty salon, a library, and dedicated arts/painting areas. Organized activities and outings are part of the program, which supports social engagement. The location is convenient to nearby stores and a park, contributing to resident independence and access to errands and outdoor recreation.

Care and staff impressions are mixed. Reviewers describe instances of friendly and helpful interactions, particularly at initial contact, but also raise concerns about variability in staff conduct and responsiveness. There are noted inconsistencies in front-desk and admissions staffing that can affect first impressions and timeliness of service. Families should expect a range of staff interaction quality and may want to ask about current staffing levels and training during a visit.

Several reviewers identified operational and maintenance issues that warrant attention. There are pest-control concerns and sanitation inconsistencies in some areas, alongside intermittent HVAC performance that can affect resident comfort. Laundry capacity and availability of functioning washers/dryers were noted as limited. Separate reports also indicate gaps in perimeter security and access control that may allow unauthorized entry; this, combined with management communication gaps, has created safety and oversight concerns for some families. Those evaluating the community should ask administration about current remediation plans, pest-control schedules, security protocols, and maintenance response times.

Dining and activities are generally viewed positively, with a pleasant dining environment and varied programming. However, the broader pattern suggests unevenness in operational reliability and management responsiveness. Prospective residents and their families should balance the strong physical setting and amenities against the operational concerns by touring multiple times, speaking with current residents and families, and requesting documentation of recent corrective actions and staffing levels.
