    Safe, friendly, well-maintained community living

I feel very safe and at home here. The staff and manager are friendly, attentive, and helped us move in when my husband needed extra assistance - maintenance is quick and reliable. The buildings and grounds are always clean and well kept, and amenities like the gym, clubhouse/library, valet trash, and regular social events make it easy to stay active and social. Spacious, comfortable apartments with updated kitchens, in-unit laundry and a balcony; convenient to family. I'm very happy and plan to stay.

    Summary of reviews

Residences at Highland Glen presents as a well-maintained independent-living community with a strong emphasis on service, social programming, and attractive physical amenities. Apartments are consistently described as spacious and thoughtfully laid out, with features such as in-unit laundry, walk-in closets, private balconies or porches, upgraded kitchens and appliances, and private storage. Common areas are substantial and varied: a clubhouse with business amenities and a library, a large meeting/party room, and an on-site fitness center. The grounds are regularly highlighted for their care and aesthetic appeal, including gardens, a greenhouse, outdoor patio and barbecue areas, and generally quiet, park-like surroundings.

Staffing, management, and maintenance are clear strengths in reviewers' accounts. A live-in manager and an accessible management team receive repeated praise for responsiveness, professional move-in assistance, and prompt maintenance resolution. Descriptions emphasize courteous, hospitable staff who assist with practical needs (including help for residents with mobility challenges), and organizational features such as valet trash/recycling and elevator access that support daily living. Many residents describe a welcoming, neighborly atmosphere and long-term satisfaction, and lease renewals and extended residency are common themes.

Social life and programming are prominent features: residents point to frequent events such as book clubs, games, social hours, monthly dinners, meet-and-greets, and holiday celebrations that foster community engagement. The community is also described as pet-friendly, with dogs socializing and residents forming connections. That said, activity offerings can fluctuate: reviewers note that programming was curtailed during infection-control events, and prospective residents should expect that event schedules may be adjusted in response to public-health or operational considerations.

Care and clinical-service context should be clarified by prospective residents. While many reviewers praise high levels of attention from staff and a strong customer-service orientation, several comments indicate that this is primarily an independent-living environment rather than a setting for extensive medical or nursing care. Families and prospective residents should confirm the scope and availability of on-site clinical or medical services, emergency response protocols, and transfer pathways to higher levels of care if needed.

Practical considerations include cost, transportation, and technology. The community is characterized as higher-end in price, and reviewers advise planning for personal transportation because public-transit options may be limited. A few comments reference intermittent issues with technology or reception, so prospective residents may wish to confirm cellular and internet reliability if these are important. Overall, the pattern across reviews points to a community that is well-cared-for, socially active, and staffed by responsive managers, with trade-offs typical of independent-living settings—namely limited clinical services and dependence on outside transportation for some errands or appointments.
