    Attentive staff, clean secure community

I placed my mother here and we're very pleased - the staff (Marcus and Vicki included) are friendly, attentive and quick to help, with maintenance even handling a toilet repair same day. The building is clean, secure and well-maintained with optional underground parking; our private apartment has a spacious kitchen, walk-in shower with grab bars and good storage. There are plenty of on-site activities and a warm, respectful community; I would happily recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Chardon Court Apartments elicits mixed impressions: many residents and families describe a clean, quiet building with friendly staff, well-kept grounds, and private apartment layouts that include spacious kitchens and some accessible bathroom features. The concrete construction is noted for reducing noise, and amenities such as optional underground parking, a full activity calendar, resident-led classes, bus outings, and small raised garden plots contribute to a sense of community for some residents. Several reviewers also praised specific staff responsiveness and same-day maintenance interventions, and recent cosmetic work in common areas has been appreciated.

At the same time, a consistent pattern of operational weaknesses appears across reviews. Recent management turnover and new ownership have been linked to rent increases, changes in house rules, and a perception of inexperience in senior housing operations. Reviewers describe inconsistent policy enforcement—particularly around smoking, pets, and resident conduct—and concerns about transparency, favoritism, and acceptance of gifts. These governance issues have affected resident trust and contributed to dissatisfaction among long-term tenants.

Maintenance and facility infrastructure are another prominent theme. Some accounts highlight prompt, helpful maintenance staff and tidy units, while others describe prolonged delays for essential repairs, plumbing problems, and moisture/mold concerns in areas. The building shows signs of needed capital investment beyond lobby improvements: aging systems, limited in-unit storage, small appliances, and an institutional/high-rise layout that may not suit all preferences. Sanitation and odor concerns in certain common areas were noted by multiple reviewers, and administrative availability is perceived as limited due to restricted office hours.

Care and services are basic and oriented to independent living. There is no on-site nursing care; meal service appears to be limited primarily to dinner, though reviewers generally commented positively about the food when it is provided. Activity offerings are present and include social events, crafts, and organized outings, but several reviewers reported activity cancellations and reductions after ownership changes. Security-related issues—such as inconsistent lock/key management and other access concerns—were raised and point to potential gaps in building operations.

Overall, the facility may be a reasonable fit for prospective residents seeking affordable independent-living apartments with a quiet building, friendly neighbors, and some community programming. Families and prospective residents should, however, assess management stability, policy enforcement, maintenance responsiveness, and the absence of on-site clinical services. A visit focused on current maintenance status, sanitation in common areas, activity schedules, and clear explanations of fee/rent policies and rules enforcement would help determine whether Chardon Court meets an individual’s expectations and needs.
