    Friendly staff, clean, welcoming community

I live here and I'm very satisfied - the staff and manager are friendly and helpful, the apartments are roomy, clean and airy, and the grounds and facility are beautiful and well kept. The activities calendar is full and engaging (bingo nights, events), and amenities like the gym, salon, van service, and complimentary breakfast add real convenience. Overall it's an affordable, welcoming community I'd recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews of Oak Crest emphasize a generally positive resident experience driven by attentive onsite staff, strong management presence, and well‑kept physical surroundings. Commenters repeatedly highlight friendly, helpful staff and an accessible manager, along with prompt maintenance and a clean, attractive facility. Apartments are described as roomy and airy with appealing unit sizes, and many reviewers cited affordability and perceived value as decision factors.

Staff interactions and care-related impressions are predominantly favorable: reviewers used terms such as friendly, wonderful manager and helpful staff, and noted a social atmosphere in which residents appear engaged and content. While clinical-care specifics are not widely detailed in the summaries provided, the combination of maintenance responsiveness, cleanliness, and an active resident community suggests routine nonclinical support is being delivered consistently. There is some variation in communication tone, however: a subset of comments describe staff as businesslike rather than uniformly warm, indicating variability in interpersonal style across shifts or teams.

Dining feedback is mixed. Several comments praise offerings (complimentary breakfast and positive meal quality), but others point to dining‑area shortcomings and unclear fee structures for lunch and additional services. Prospective residents and families should confirm current meal pricing, dining‑room setup, and service expectations during a tour, as experiences appear to vary.

The activities program is a clear strength: a full events calendar, regular social events such as bingo nights, and on‑site amenities including a gym and hair salon contribute to an engaged lifestyle. Scheduled transportation (a facility van) for grocery shopping and outings supports resident mobility and participation in offsite activities, although access to the campus itself was described as challenging by some visitors.

Notable patterns to verify in person are transportation and accessibility logistics and the facility’s external communications. Several reviewers found reaching the site inconvenient, and others described the public‑relations or marketing presence as disappointing; these issues may affect initial impressions or the ease of arranging visits. Overall, Oak Crest presents as a well‑maintained, community‑oriented senior living option with a robust activities program and generally positive staff engagement, balanced by variable dining experiences, occasional tonal inconsistency in staff communication, and potential access or communication limitations that prospective families should investigate further during a visit.

Oak Crest sits in Spring Lake Park, MN, in a quiet northern suburb near the Twin Cities, where people can find both independent and assisted living options under Presbyterian Homes & Services. Residents can pick apartments with nine-foot ceilings, walk-in storage, and spa-like bathrooms that have step-in or roll-in showers, or tubs, and most places include full kitchens with a refrigerator, stove, self-cleaning oven, microwave, and dishwasher. Oak Crest offers special services and unique program names, and care types focus on the needs of each resident with things like independent living, assisted living, home health care, hospice care, and Meals at Home, so seniors can get just the help they need.

The campus has a Wings Wellness Center for fitness, exercise rooms and classes, nice walking trails and gardens, a butterfly garden, flower boxes, and a pond with a path, so folks can enjoy being outdoors, plus there's a billiards area, library, computer lab, learning centers, business office services, a general store, and spaces for crafts, games, cards, bingo, and social gatherings, along with common rooms for bigger events or casual time with neighbors. You can see people taking part in the Spring Style Show or volunteering, find worship services close by, and get support from a campus pastor and spiritual care services, so faith and community have a place here too. For everyday needs, Oak Crest gives residents basic cable TV, wireless internet, underground garage parking, a car wash bay, individually controlled heat and air, meals and continental breakfast, laundry and housekeeping, and a convenience store, as well as an "I'm OK" daily check system and response system support for safety, all inside a controlled-access building.

Presbyterian Homes provides services at Oak Crest, which is known for promoting healthy habits and social, physical, and mental activity, and it's pet-friendly, so small dogs and cats are welcome too. Seniors can join wellness and rehabilitation programs, get help with daily needs like bathing, dressing, or medicine, and enjoy volunteer work, social events, and nutritious meals made with good ingredients. There's on-site hair salon and barber care, guest suites for visitors, scheduled tours, and friendly staff around for support, with flexible payment set at market rate.
