    Independent living with friendly staff

I'm very happy with my move to Silver Crest. The staff are friendly, accommodating and genuinely helpful, the building is clean and well-maintained, and rent includes useful amenities like DirectTV and internet. My apartment gives me independence - neutral walls I could personalize, I cook and clean for myself - plus plenty of social activities. Move-in was smooth (dollies/carts and a follow-up call) and the community is quiet and welcoming.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: The facility presents as an apartment-style community oriented toward independent seniors who value cleanliness, privacy, and flexibility. Reviews emphasize a well-maintained physical environment, neutral and spacious apartment interiors that residents may personalize, and a generally quiet atmosphere. Included services such as internet and Direct TV, plus a range of on-site amenities, support an independent lifestyle while providing opportunities for social interaction.

Staff and care quality: Staff interactions are consistently described in positive terms — friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Office personnel and the community manager are noted for providing practical move-in assistance (dollies/carts, move-in tips) and for follow-up communication after arrival. Those strengths suggest a responsive front-office culture. At the same time, the community operates without round-the-clock on-site caregiving or clinical staff; the staffing model is managerial and administrative rather than medical. This makes the community suitable for residents who are largely independent but less appropriate for those who require regular assisted-living support or frequent clinical oversight.

Dining and daily living: The community does not provide meal service or an on-site dining program. Residents are expected to prepare their own meals and manage their household tasks, which aligns with the apartment-living model and the emphasis on resident independence. Prospective residents who anticipate needing meal assistance, regular housekeeping, or help with activities of daily living should plan to arrange outside services or consider a different setting that provides higher levels of care.

Activities, amenities, and facilities: Reviews highlight an active social calendar and ample shared amenities that encourage community engagement. The building is described as clean and well-kept, and common-area maintenance appears consistent with resident expectations. Move-in logistics and initial orientation are handled in a way that reduces friction for new residents.

Management and operational patterns: Management appears organized around independent-living operations, with attention to move-in processes and resident communication. The staffing and service model prioritizes independence and self-sufficiency; reviewers repeatedly point to this as a feature rather than a shortcoming, provided the resident's needs match that model. Notable operational limitations include lack of 24/7 on-site staff coverage and no meal program. Parking availability has mixed notes — while some comments describe good parking, others mention constrained options and the absence of a garage, which may affect residents with vehicles.

Who this fits: Silver Crest Senior Community is best suited to active, independent seniors who want apartment-style living, modest monthly utility-included services, and an engaged social environment. It is less appropriate for people who require regular assisted-living services, frequent clinical oversight, or an on-site dining program. Prospective residents and families should verify parking arrangements and confirm whether outside services (home care, meal delivery, housekeeping) are acceptable or necessary given the facility's operational model.

    About Silver Crest Senior Community

Silver Crest Senior Community sits at 2099 W. 4700 S. in Taylorsville, UT and offers apartments for adults over 55 who want an easy and comfortable place to live, and you'll find the place feels lively but also peaceful, with wide lawns, a pet park for large and small dogs, neighborhood gardens, a BBQ area, gazebo, and lots of places outside to sit and relax, which is something folks seem to appreciate especially when the weather is nice. Apartments here come in several floor plans, including some called Grandeur and Twin Peaks, and most of them have features like walk-in closets, private patios or balconies, built-in computer desks, central air and heat, fire sprinklers, and full-size washers and dryers, and the kitchens come with modern appliances like dishwashers, microwaves, double stainless steel sinks, and there's free high-speed internet, water, sewer, valet trash service, and even basic DirecTV included in the rent so you don't have to worry about too many bills stacking up, and the rent itself is all-inclusive so there are no surprise charges.

Residents get assigned covered parking in carports or garages, with extra storage space, and if someone wants, they can rent a private garage for a little more. You can bring a dog or cat (with some breed and weight limits and deposit), so it feels more like home for animal lovers, and there are plenty of nearby parks and pet care options close by for both people and their pets to stay active. The apartments also have features for easy access if someone uses a wheelchair or needs a bit more help getting around, which means people don't have to leave just because mobility gets tougher, and there's an elevator in the building for folks who don't want to take the stairs. For those who like to keep busy, there are activities like bingo, card games, movie nights in the theater, monthly get-togethers with different themes, a Mad Hatter Tea Party, door decorating contests, and more, and the clubhouse, game room, fitness center, lounge, business center, and library stay open for residents to use how and when they like, so there's always something going on if you want to chat or spend time with neighbors.

Silver Crest Senior Community helps seniors stay healthy and independent with different options, offering independent living for active adults, and memory care for those with dementia, plus residential care homes and home care services with trained aides for those who need extra hands with daily routines. Staff are trained, friendly, and always seem available if someone needs help or has a question, and management has an online portal so residents or their families can pay rent or submit maintenance requests without leaving the apartment.

Anyone interested can stop by for a tour Monday through Friday from 9 to 5:30, and the place is close to libraries, shopping, gyms, entertainment spaces, and healthcare, which helps keep things convenient and social, and veterans or their spouses might qualify for VA long-term care benefits to help cover costs if they need it, which some people say makes a difference. While there isn't a mountain of extra detail on everything, and some information may be missing, the basics show Silver Crest offers a convenient, safe, and friendly community for seniors who want to stay active and connected as they age.
