    Roomy apartments, friendly staff, ideal

I live here and am very pleased - the apartments are roomy and a great value. The office staff and tour guide were wonderful, residents friendly, and the location is ideal with shopping, conveniences, and a nearby senior center with activities. I would definitely recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment in the reviews is positive about the people and location, and more mixed-to-negative about the physical condition and on-site amenities. Several reviewers praised staff repeatedly — front-office personnel, tour guides, and caregivers or other employees are described as friendly, helpful and wonderful. Residents themselves are noted as friendly, and multiple summaries explicitly say they would recommend the community. Location is also a consistent plus: reviewers mention nearby shopping, conveniences, and proximity to a senior center that offers additional activities.

Physical facilities and apartment features show a split pattern. On the positive side, apartment sizes are described as nice or generous, and reviewers explicitly cite value for money. On the negative side, multiple summaries call out a run-down or dated facility overall. Specific interior drawbacks are small bathrooms and kitchens and older or tired appliances. Another repeated practical concern is the lack of in-unit laundry — no washer and dryer — which may matter to prospective residents who expect those conveniences. Parking is also flagged as limited.

Activities and programming are a mixed theme: reviewers point out that there are few activities on-site, which is a notable shortcoming for those seeking an active communal calendar. That weakness is partially mitigated by the property's proximity to a senior center that offers activities, so some residents may rely on off-site programming rather than expecting robust on-site offerings. The reviews suggest that social opportunities within the community itself may be limited but that outside resources are nearby.

Management and customer-facing operations receive positive notes: the office staff and tour guides are singled out as strong points, which supports the idea that administrative responsiveness and first impressions are good. That positive staff interaction appears to be a consistent pattern and likely contributes strongly to the overall recommendation sentiment despite other shortcomings.

What is not mentioned or is unclear in the reviews is anything about dining services, clinical care, housekeeping standards beyond appliance and décor condition, safety/security features, or thoroughness of maintenance response times. The emphasis in the reviews is on interpersonal service, apartment size/value, and the physical age and limited amenities of the building. Prospective residents should therefore verify specifics about dining options, medical or assistance services (if needed), housekeeping and maintenance responsiveness, and parking arrangements.

In summary, reviewers portray Coppermine II as a community with warm, helpful staff and a convenient location that offers good-sized apartments at a reasonable price. However, prospective residents should be aware of trade-offs: the building and fixtures appear dated, bathrooms and kitchens are small, in-unit laundry is absent, on-site activities are limited, and parking can be constrained. For someone prioritizing friendly staff, a welcoming community and proximity to neighborhood conveniences and a senior center, Coppermine II may be a good fit. For those who require more modern finishes, robust on-site programming, in-unit laundry, or ample parking, the reviews suggest further investigation or consideration of alternatives.

    About Coppermine II

Coppermine II sits in the McNair Farms area south of Herndon, VA, and is a place that gives older adults a mix of care and independence depending on what they need, so you've got independent living apartments for folks who want to stay active and do things on their own, but you've also got assistance with things like meals, medicine, and day-to-day activities for people who need a hand. There's Alzheimer's care, assisted living services, and respite care if a caregiver needs a break for a little while. The building takes safety seriously, putting emergency call buttons in every unit and having fully-trained, friendly staff nearby, and a social services coordinator helps residents get supportive services and resources right on site. The apartments come in one- and two-bedroom sizes, with features like low countertops, roll-in showers, wide doorways, and ADA appliances, and every unit has central air and heating, wall-to-wall carpet, its own dishwasher, and many of them have a balcony or sunroom for a bit of fresh air. The whole place is geared for budget-conscious older adults and has 66 units set up for those aged 55 and up.

Things run smoothly because there's 24-hour maintenance, security, and building upkeep, and laundry on every floor, which is nice for not having to haul things too far. You've got lots of ways to keep active or make friends-there's a wellness center for exercise, a hobby room, computer center, TV room, sunny community rooms, library, and plenty of scheduled activities, social events, and outings, all meant to keep people from feeling lonely or bored. There's even an in-house beauty salon and barbershop for haircuts and a simple clean-up. The transportation service will take you to doctor's appointments, shopping, errands, or to see family, and the staff make sure everyone can get help as needed, whether for daily care, arranging extra services, or just finding someone to talk with in a common room. Coppermine II is a private, low-income community where seniors can feel supported, safe, and have a place to call home with just as much help or privacy as they want.
