    Compassionate staff and excellent rehab

I'm very pleased with Conway Lakes - compassionate, caring staff provided excellent therapy and wound care and my mom improved noticeably in their rehab/long-term unit. The facility is clean with nice grounds, inviting dining and living rooms, holiday activities, and a family-friendly meal policy. Staff were friendly and professional; I highly recommend Conway Lakes.

    Summary of reviews

Conway Lakes Health & Rehabilitation presents a mixed but informative profile for prospective residents and families. Several reviewers praise the facility's grounds and overall cleanliness, and the physical environment includes dining and common living spaces as well as an outdoor gazebo used for respite. The center operates both rehabilitation and long-term care services; many families noted meaningful clinical improvements following therapy, and wound-care services are available on site.

Clinical rehabilitation is a clear strength. Multiple accounts describe effective physical and occupational therapy and a therapy team that is caring and focused on recovery. These clinical services have produced positive outcomes for some residents, including measurable improvement after short-term rehabilitation stays and targeted COVID-unit therapy. However, nursing and aide-level care appear inconsistent: reviewers describe variability in CNA engagement and attentiveness, and repeated concerns about delays in responding to call lights and resident requests. These patterns suggest uneven performance at the bedside despite strengths in therapy.

Dining and activity offerings draw mixed assessments. The facility has a family-friendly meal policy and designated dining areas, and it organizes holiday or special-event activities. At the same time, reviewers cited inconsistent meal quality, issues with serving temperature, and therapeutic diet options described as uninspired. Activity programming is seen as limited by some families; several reviewers indicated that residents spent substantial time inactive or in bed, contributing to reduced social engagement.

Facility-level operational issues also appear in staffing, cleanliness, and communication. While some staff are described as friendly and professional, others were characterized as less engaged or unprofessional, including concerns about management tone in at least one account. Reviewers noted cleanliness issues in certain rooms and dining areas and odor concerns in specific locations. Communication gaps were reported regarding timely status updates to families and clarity around daily care plans. Additionally, private rooms are limited and some private accommodations were described as dreary and poorly lit. Cost is a recurring consideration: some families felt pricing did not fully align with the level of service experienced.

In summary, Conway Lakes offers robust rehabilitation and clinical therapy services and has attractive grounds and communal spaces. Prospective residents should weigh those strengths against recurring operational concerns: inconsistent bedside aide performance, responsiveness delays, variability in cleanliness and meal service, limited activity engagement, and occasional concerns about supervisory professionalism. Families considering this facility may want to observe mealtime service, request details about CNA staffing and call-light response protocols, tour private-room options for lighting/ambience, and confirm communication processes for regular clinical updates.

About Conway Lakes Health & Rehabilitation

Conway Lakes Health & Rehabilitation sits at 5201 Curry Ford Road in Orlando, and this place provides both short-term and long-term skilled nursing care in a building that feels pretty homey for a medical facility, with private rooms and bathrooms, a café bistro where folks can sit and relax, and even a small movie theater for those times when you just want to take your mind off things, with landscaped courtyards and walking paths outside for fresh air if you're able, and a fitness center made for seniors who need safe space to get stronger. They have 120 beds in total, and a friendly staff that includes registered nurses who're well-versed in long-term and elder care and work round the clock, supervised by doctors, making sure people have what they need, whether it's help with bathing, dressing, eating, or taking medicine. Therapy is a big focus here, with occupational, physical, and speech therapy offered as much as seven days a week if your care plan requires it, and the idea is to help folks recover from surgery, illness, or injury until they're steady enough to go back home or feel comfortable staying.

The facility tries to keep families involved, inviting them to help shape care plans so patients get the kind of personal attention they want, and after people finish their inpatient rehab, there's outpatient therapy in the same place with staff who already know you, which can feel reassuring. Conway Lakes has modern medical equipment, an emergency call system in every room, and services like wound care, cardiac care, IV therapies, and infection prevention, which is supposed to lower the risks that come with hospital stays. The place meets Medicare and Medicaid requirements, is certified by the Joint Commission on Accreditation for Health Care Organizations, and has received the Governor's Gold Seal for continued quality, along with a Women's Choice Award for meeting clinical standards and treating patients decently. Right now, Conway Lakes is recognized as a 5-star facility by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, though Medicare's separate rating puts it at three out of five stars, and in the last year, state health inspectors cited it for 11 health concerns, mostly about resident care.

Residents talk about easy communication with nurses and doctors, reasonable cleanliness in rooms and bathrooms, and how the staff responds to calls when help's needed, but there are some serious issues in the public record, including documented violations for not washing residents' hair, not checking for and preventing skin ulcers, and failing to keep up with daily cleaning-which led to pressure wounds and other problems. Some lawsuits also claim neglect and abuse, so those are things families should research before making any decisions. Conway Lakes does try to educate people about elder abuse and offers free legal consultations if someone thinks their rights aren't respected. People say the environment feels peaceful with its well-kept grounds and resort-style touches, but for some, the most important thing is whether the medical care and supervision match the promises, so it helps to look at patient reviews and official reports. Families can book appointments by phone and tour the facility to see the private, upscale rooms, common areas, and special rehab equipment for themselves. The staff says they want to help each resident restore as much quality of life as possible, making sure care fits the individual rather than being one-size-fits-all, but like any place that handles complicated care, results and experiences can vary.
