    Great therapy, unsafe for long-term

I had a mixed experience. The building is clean, bright, with pleasant patios and outstanding PT/OT - compassionate, hardworking CNAs and nurses (Kyle R., Nurse Judy) who helped my loved one heal and smile. But nursing and medical care were inconsistent: chronic understaffing (especially nights), poor shift-to-shift communication, unsafe transfers, denied access to medication records, missing meds/alleged misuse, too much sedation, and generally terrible food. Rooms can be cramped, parking is hard, and admissions/communication were disappointing. I'd recommend it for short-term rehab because therapy and many staff are excellent, but I would NOT trust it for long-term, high-acuity care without major improvements.

    About Lexington Of Lake Zurich

Lexington Of Lake Zurich stands as a large senior care community in Lake Zurich, Illinois, offering both long-term nursing and short-term rehabilitation. Staff here put a real focus on resident safety, monitoring everything from infection control to medication use, and following set protocols to reduce falls and prevent pressure ulcers. You'll find a high percentage of residents getting flu shots each year, and the team takes steps to catch and treat urinary tract infections early, plus they check everyone for needed pneumococcal vaccines. The facility works to keep residents as comfortable as possible, paying attention to pain management and relying on frequent health inspections with no recent state or federal fines. Physical and occupational therapy, including specialized tracheotomy care with ventilators and oxygen therapies, is offered up to seven days a week in a modern therapy gym, and there's a whole unit meant for short-term rehab beds when someone's coming from a hospital stay and wants to get home again soon.

Rooms come in private, semi-private, and studio layouts, many with their own bathrooms, kitchenettes, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, cable, flat screen TVs, and telephones. The building's been fully remodeled to look and feel welcoming, and amenities include furnished rooms, daily meal services, a 24-hour call system in every room, and staff on hand day and night. There's a secured memory care unit specifically for those with Alzheimer's and dementia, providing round-the-clock supervision, and the community avoids physical restraints as a matter of policy. Everyone here receives help with medication, bathing, dressing, and moving around if needed. The care teams are consistent, with registered nurses and therapists working extra hours above state averages.

Lexington Of Lake Zurich is owned by a for-profit group. It takes Medicare and Medicaid for its 203 certified beds, although only 57 were available as of June 2025. There's a resident council, but no family council. The community offers support for families too, focusing on comfort and emotional health, especially near end-of-life, and there's an emphasis on spiritual and bereavement support during hard times. Care outcomes and therapy performance are reported as above average for Illinois and the United States, while the star ratings from surveys show above average for quality but lower for health inspections and staffing. Residents take part in several programs to stay active and social, and there are common spaces set up for activities. Each part of the care plan keeps the resident's comfort and safety as the top priority, in a setting designed to feel calm and homelike.
