    Excellent short-term rehab caring staff

I stayed here for short-term rehab and was very pleased. The facility is immaculate and well laid out with great amenities (sunroom, geriatric weight room, many activities like ice cream socials, bingo and shopping); staff across departments - nurses, nurse aides, therapists and case workers - were courteous, well trained and genuinely caring, and PT/rehab was excellent and flexible.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews of Lakeside Health & Wellness Suites present a polarized picture: many families and short-term rehab patients describe effective, compassionate care in therapy and day-to-day interactions, while other accounts emphasize operational shortcomings that materially affected resident experience. Strengths are concentrated in the rehabilitation program and frontline caregiving, whereas weaknesses cluster around staffing, clinical escalation, and administrative coordination.

Care quality and clinical services: Multiple accounts praise the facilityโ€™s physical and occupational therapy programs, including well-equipped therapy spaces, a geriatric weight room, and coordinated PT scheduling that supported productive short-term and long-term rehabilitation stays. Many reviewers described courteous, helpful rehabilitation staff and nurse aides who assisted with hygiene and mobility. However, a contrasting set of reviews raises serious operational concerns: chronic understaffing, slow response to call lights and urgent needs, inconsistent bathing and hygiene assistance, and limited wound-care or other complex-clinical expertise. Several families also noted difficulties obtaining timely medical information and delays in clinical escalation and transfers when a residentโ€™s condition worsened.

Staff and management: Staff interactions are described in mixed terms. Some reviewers highlighted compassionate, respectful, and joyful staff across departments; others described negative communication tone or perceived lack of engagement by specific nursing personnel. Management and administrative issues recur as a theme: short-staffing in discharge planning, poorly coordinated or short-notice transfers, and gaps in family communication following clinical incidents. Security and valuables-management procedures were questioned in a number of accounts, and several reviewers reported dissatisfaction with how serious incidents were handled and communicated to families.

Dining, activities, and facility environment: The facilityโ€™s environment and amenities receive generally positive remarks โ€” clean, well-laid-out interiors, private rooms, accessible outdoor sunrooms, and a range of social activities (bingo, social hours, shopping trips) were commonly cited as benefits. Dining impressions are mixed: some families found food adequate and enjoyed scheduled social meals, while others described inconsistent food quality and specific diet-accommodation errors. Sanitation and pest-control concerns were raised in a subset of reports and should be assessed during a tour.

Notable patterns and guidance for prospective residents: The reviews indicate a clear pattern of variability in experience that appears linked to staffing levels, unit assignment, and the residentโ€™s clinical complexity. Positive experiences tend to center on short-term rehabilitation and interactions with therapy teams; negative experiences more often involve complex medical needs, wound care, medication management, and times when staffing was constrained. There are also several individual accounts of severe outcomes that prompted family concerns; prospective residents and their families should inquire specifically about staffing ratios, wound-care expertise, medication-management protocols, incident-response procedures, sanitation practices, and discharge/transfer policies. Observing a unitโ€™s staffing levels, asking for examples of recent clinical transfers, and requesting contact information for case management or therapy leads can help clarify whether the facilityโ€™s strengths align with an individualโ€™s care needs.

About Lakeside Health & Wellness Suites

Lakeside Health & Wellness Suites sits by the lakeside with views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and folks here can find all sorts of health and wellness services, which makes the place good for people who need more than just basic care because they offer physical, occupational, and speech therapy, along with skilled nursing, help with medications, meals, and daily needs like bathing and transfers. The care team works together to create separate plans for each person, and they provide 24-hour nursing care along with visits from board-certified doctors, and if someone needs hospice or respite support, the staff can handle that too. Residents can get support for mental and emotional health with behavioral health services and participate in life enrichment programs, community activities, and even live entertainment events, while people who love getting outside can enjoy gardens, walking paths, and outdoor programs. Rooms have Wi-Fi, cable TV, private bathrooms, kitchenettes, and there's communal dining in a restaurant-style space where a professional chef prepares meals, including diets for people who have allergies or diabetes, and daily meal service runs all day. Residents can relax in community spaces like a media theatre, arts room, game room, and the library, or keep active with fitness programs, a wellness room, and scheduled activities, while staff help with housekeeping, laundry, and even transportation. Nurses and aides supply medication management, rehabilitation, and help for those who can't walk, and if someone needs extra care for chronic conditions like diabetes or heart disease, they can get it here, too, including nutrition counseling and health screenings. Evenings might bring movie nights or arts events, while residents and families can share concerns and help improve things through councils. With 189 licensed nursing home beds (45 available as of June 2025), round-the-clock supervision, and services that fit each person, Lakeside Health & Wellness Suites tries to offer a place that feels safe, welcoming, and focused on helping people stay as independent and comfortable as possible, and Amanda Lawson, NHA, manages the facility, which also accepts Medicare and Medicaid and is run as a for-profit operation.
