    Compassionate staff, excellent rehab, responsive

I'm very pleased with my aunt's care - compassionate, respectful staff (CNAs like Little Sarah and Bridget and nurse Jennifer stood out), excellent rehab/therapy, improved meals, clean and welcoming facility, and responsive administration and receptionist. Overall a very positive, recommendable experience.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment across the reviews is cautiously positive, with the strongest praise directed at the quality of care and the rehabilitation/therapy services. Multiple reviewers emphasize that the aides are kind and caring and that therapy staff are excellent โ€” one review directly calls the care "among the best." Specific staff are singled out by name for positive behavior (Little Sarah and Bridget on the 100 hall), and several reviewers describe the broader staff as "very nice," noting no specific problems in their experiences. The presence of an open and accessible administrator and business office manager is mentioned, which suggests effective communication and management accessibility in many cases.

Rehabilitation and therapy emerge as standout strengths. The rehab department is repeatedly described as "great," and reviewers identify the therapy staff as excellent. This consistent praise indicates that residents who need therapy or short-term rehab are likely to receive attentive, effective services. CNAs and frontline caregivers receive specific compliments for being polite and upbeat, which contributes to a positive day-to-day care experience for residents.

Facility and environment comments are mixed. On the positive side, heating and air conditioning are comfortable and the facility is described as generally clean. However, reviewers also call the building old and note that remodeling is in progress. Some people find parts of the facilityโ€”particularly the lockdown areaโ€”depressing, and there are mentions that the location is far from home for some families. Remodeling work can help modernize an older building but may also be disruptive while it is underway. Occasional odors after accidents are mentioned, indicating that while routine cleanliness is acceptable, there are episodic sanitation problems linked to incontinence or other incidents.

Dining and daily-life notes lean positive: meals are reported to have improved, which is an important quality-of-life factor for residents. At the same time, activity programming appears to be a weakness. Several reviews cite limited activities, and combined with reports of some delays in staff response, this suggests residents may sometimes experience inactivity or slower-than-expected assistance. Another operational limitation mentioned explicitly is the lack of a private duty nurse option, which may be important to families seeking one-on-one nursing services beyond standard staffing.

Management and responsiveness show both strengths and areas for improvement. The administrator and business office manager are described as open, which is a significant positive for family communication and problem resolution. Nevertheless, reviewers report occasional delays in response from staff, which could reflect understaffing, workflow challenges, or the impact of renovation activity. No specific complaints were logged by some reviewers, reinforcing that experiences can vary by unit and by individual circumstances.

In summary, Pleasant Manor Health & Rehabilitation Center appears to provide high-quality clinical care and strong rehabilitation services delivered by caring and personable staff. Strengths include skilled therapy teams, attentive CNAs on certain halls, improved meals, comfortable climate control, and generally good cleanliness. Key concerns center on the physical plant (an older building undergoing remodeling), a lockdown area and associated low morale in some areas, limited activities, occasional delays in staff response, lack of private duty nursing, and occasional odors after accidents. Families considering this facility should weigh the high marks for medical and rehabilitative care and the approachable management team against the facilityโ€™s age, ongoing renovations, activity limitations, and the potential emotional impact of the lockdown area. Visiting in personโ€”especially to see specific units like the 100 hall and to speak with therapy staff, administration, and CNAsโ€”would help prospective residents and families better understand how these factors would affect day-to-day life.
