    Professional, kind staff; excellent care

I had a very positive, nearly flawless experience - the nurses, aides, therapy team and activities staff (special thanks to Delphine, Angela and Stacy) were professional, kind and went above and beyond. The facility is clean, meals are good, administration is attentive and communicative, and I felt my loved one was treated like family; I highly recommend this recovery-focused center.

    Summary of reviews

Waverly Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center presents a mixed but informative picture for prospective residents and families. Many reviewers praised the interpersonal side of care: nurses, aides, therapy staff, and social workers are frequently described as compassionate, attentive, and recovery-focused. The therapy teams and activity department receive repeated commendation for engaging programming and a goal-oriented rehabilitation approach intended to support return to home. Specific staff members and administrators were often singled out as responsive, professional, and personally involved in resident well-being.

Operationally, several persistent patterns emerge. Staffing continuity and responsiveness are uneven; reviewers described inconsistent nursing assignments, slow call-bell responses, and periods of limited weekend clinical coverage. These patterns are reflected in concerns about medication-delivery delays, timeliness of care-plan updates, and occasional lapses in personal-care scheduling. Communication with families and with external facilities is variable — some families report clear, timely updates, while others experienced gaps in information sharing and difficulty reaching staff by phone.

Dining, facilities, and maintenance elicit both positive and negative comments. The facility is often called clean and well-kept, with attractive grounds and a welcoming atmosphere; however, there are recurring notes about aging infrastructure and maintenance needs. Meal quality is inconsistent in some accounts, including complaints about temperature and presentation. A small number of reviewers raised pest-control concerns and other environmental-safety issues that warrant direct inquiry during a tour.

Rehabilitation experiences are similarly mixed: the therapy staff is frequently praised for helping residents progress toward discharge, but some families described brief or unclear therapy sessions and uneven therapeutic outcomes. Management and leadership appear to be evolving; some reviews highlight a responsive, engaged administration and recent improvements under new leadership, while others point to periods when the Director of Nursing or clinical leadership were difficult to reach.

Overall, Waverly shows notable strengths in staff compassion, engaging activities, and a therapy focus on recovery. At the same time, there are operational weaknesses that prospective residents and families should investigate directly: staffing consistency, medication-management practices, call-response protocols, facility maintenance, pest-control measures, and weekend/after-hours clinical coverage. Recommended next steps for families: schedule a tour focusing on staffing ratios and weekend coverage, ask about medication administration and emergency contact procedures, observe an activity session and meal service, and request recent inspection or remediation records for sanitation and pest control. These targeted questions will help determine whether the facility's praised strengths align with the prospective resident's specific care needs.
