    Attentive compassionate staff and care

I had a very good experience - attentive, compassionate staff (Beth was especially helpful), strong management, clean studios, and very good food. They were pet-friendly and supportive during our end-of-life goodbye; I recommend this well-run, caring facility.

    About Providence Horizon House

Providence Horizon House sits about 3.3 miles outside Anchorage, Alaska, at 4140 Folker St, and serves up to 65 residents with a focus on seniors who need assisted living, memory care, hospice, respite care, and rehabilitation, and you'll find studio, single, semi-private, share, or companion room layouts so each person can pick what's most comfortable for their needs, and there's a real mix here, too, with apartment-style rooms, cottages for people with Alzheimer's or other memory disorders, plus some units for residents who want to bring a pet as long as they look after it responsibly, and they don't limit people from spending time with visiting pets either which adds a bit of homeyness, and you've got communal spaces that include a game room, activity rooms, a library, gardens, walking paths outside, a fitness center, and a beauty/barber salon, and there's a courtyard, community parks, and cheerful dining areas where residents can eat three meals a day, with the kitchen serving up regular meals plus a deli-style menu with hot and cold sandwiches, salads, and fruit, and if you've got a special diet, they've got options for allergies or diabetes, and you can give feedback using the comment box in the dining room, which is a thoughtful touch that shows they care about listening.

The community makes sure folks can stay active and independent, offering a structured calendar of activities like bingo, poetry readings, arts and crafts, music programs, fitness routines, field trips, religious services, and both community-sponsored and resident-led events, and there's group transportation for those outings or shopping trips, besides general trips for medical appointments or errands, and you'll see the staff is especially trained for caring for people with dementia, mental health conditions, or special mobility needs, with two cottages set up for those who need more memory support, and there are programs that help people with mental health recovery, so it isn't just about a safe bed but a full approach that considers emotional and physical needs, and everyone gets encouragement to keep up with daily responsibilities, which promotes dignity and a sense of belonging.

Care services run around the clock, with staff who are trained and described as professional, kind, and attentive, including help with bathing, dressing, transfers, medication reminders, and other activities of daily living, and there's a 24-hour call system in every apartment if someone needs quick help, and for folks with more complex needs-like those who can't move about easily or need help transferring-staff are always available, and there's memory care staff too, plus social workers and community-based support programs for those facing chronic mental health challenges, and the property is set up to be safe, with emergency alert systems, sprinklers, safety and handicap features, elevators, and well-lit spaces.

Residents have services like laundry and linen changes, housekeeping, maintenance, and dry cleaning, and move-in coordination support so the transition goes smoothly, and for those who want more privacy, some rooms come with private bathrooms, kitchenettes, cable TV, telephones, and high-speed Wi-Fi, with furnishings if you want them, and if people want to stay connected with family, there's MyChart scheduling so they can manage visits or medical appointments, and the Providence App lets people see a doctor, get same-day care, or arrange virtual care straight from the community, and the health care connection comes through Providence Health & Services Alaska, so there's coordination for things like cancer, heart and vascular care, pediatrics, maternity, and urgent care, and if there's billing or payment stress, online bill pay is available and the staff offers help with navigating long-term care insurance.

Feedback from families and residents reflects a setting where the staff keeps things tidy and friendly, though the community rating sits at 5.6 out of 10, so while there are strengths like personalized support, good staff quality, and attention to detail in care and tidiness, there's always room for improvement, and the property leans towards a comfortable, homey environment with scheduled events, wellness programs, a spa and sauna, music activity rooms, and cheerful spaces where everyone can feel part of the community, and above all, the goal is to help people who can't live on their own anymore feel respected, supported, and engaged, with options to tour or get price estimates if they're thinking about moving in.
