Sheyla's Place sits in Anchorage's 99508 area and has a small, warm environment with just five senior apartments and several types of living units, including assisted living, memory care, and senior living spaces, all built with safety in mind, featuring small studios, one-bedroom suites, and shared quarters that come with emergency alert systems and staff on call 24/7. The community tries to make life easier by offering help with daily needs such as bathing, dressing, incontinence care, and mealtime help, as well as regular health checks, medication management, and dementia or Parkinson's care. Residents get three chef-prepared meals each day, snacks, and special meal modifications for health issues like diabetes or allergies, all served in a large dining section or private dining area for family gatherings. Folks can join a full schedule of activities, with daily games, crafts, reading, movie nights, music and exercise programs, plus outings to off-site events, doctor appointments, and errands with transportation and parking provided. The building holds spaces like a reading room, arts and crafts room, movie room, games and entertainment area, computer center with internet, therapy and fitness spaces, and offers things like spa and massage therapy, a barber or beauty shop, and regular chapel services, plus a greenhouse, garden, walking paths, and a courtyard for outdoor relaxation. Residents also get laundry, dry cleaning, housekeeping, concierge help, and can use a phone in their room. Staff help people into the shower, assist with personal grooming, provide continence support, and give reminders or hands-on help as needed. Security is always on-site, and the design tries to make a friendly, familiar place to live, with support for making new friends and staying active, whether enjoying pet therapy or attending a church service, playing board games or just walking the garden path.
