    Attentive staff and vibrant community

I love living here - the staff are attentive, caring and responsive, and helped my family through transitions. The community is vibrant and friendly with lots of activities, trips and classes; apartments are spacious, spotless and home-like with plenty of amenities (dining, salon, workout room, transportation). The food is terrific, the place feels safe and well-kept, and I'm very pleased - five stars.

    About Harding Place Retirement

Harding Place Retirement Community sits right on the Harding University campus in Searcy, Arkansas, tucked near the green foothills of the Ozarks, and you'll find 116 retirement apartments here, with choices from studio and one-bedroom to two-bedroom layouts, and people can pick from four different floor plans, each designed to help older adults keep their independence while making things easier if they need more help later on, since the Age in Place program and Arkansas licensed home care providers are available for support, and folks who need more care, even for memory loss or dementia, can get assistance right on campus, which means moving again isn't necessary, and apartments are roomy with large bathrooms, walk-in showers or tub enclosures, kitchens that have a fridge and oven, plus plenty of storage, and all places are pre-wired for cable, internet, phone, and the emergency alert system just in case. People who live at Harding Place get three meals each day Monday through Saturday, prepared by chefs with an eye for quality and taste, and there are lunch and dinner served on Sundays, all in an elegant dining room that brings everyone together, and there's also a grill menu for variety. A team keeps up the grounds and building, and residents have weekly housekeeping, linen services, and free laundry facilities, with maintenance looked after quickly when things go wrong.

The community takes pride in having an activities director on campus, so there are community events, regular games like Farkle, trips to local places, exercise classes, worship services, and Bible classes to help everyone stay active and connected, especially because many people appreciate the sense of fellowship that's fostered here, which makes it different from just living alone. Residents receive a Harding University Lyceum Card that opens the door to campus life, letting them go to cultural events, musical performances, lectures, and they've got access to the university's gym, pool, weight room, and library, so there's plenty to do for someone who wants to stay involved or just try something new now and then.

There's a full list of amenities, including an activities room, a comfortable library/study, beauty salon, exercise room, private spots to visit with friends, and covered parking for personal vehicles, plus scheduled rides to the store, the bank, or doctor visits, all as part of the monthly rent with no extra charge for utilities, cable TV, or wireless internet. Harding Place has safety covered too, with security cameras, 24-hour staff, fire sprinklers, smoke detectors, and an administrator on call at all times, which should help families feel a bit more at ease. Residents have the option to decorate and furnish their apartments to feel at home, and two-bedroom apartments even come with a dishwasher for convenience.

People here get to enjoy nearby art galleries, a movie theater, seasonal events like the Cardboard Boat Races and Holiday of Lights, plus golf courses, fishing lakes, and wildlife areas, while restaurants, shopping, and theaters are close by, making it easy to keep busy off campus too if that's what you want, and for those who don't drive, there's transportation for errands and outings. Home Health Care, hospice, physical therapy, and nursing aides are welcome and available, so those with special health needs don't have to go far for help, and there's a Resident and Family Care Services Director to guide people as they decide which living options are right for them. Harding Place feels welcoming and home-like, and although no place has everything perfect, the community helps people live as they choose with support and plenty to do in a safe, lively setting.
