    Attentive home-like care; highly recommended

I moved my mom from a larger facility and have been very pleased with the attentive, super-responsive staff - from the passionate director and owner to the top-notch caregivers who treat residents like family. The home is clean, comfortable and home-like; meals are made from scratch, medication management and appointments are handled promptly, and communication gives me real peace of mind. I recommend this place for caring, reliable senior care.

    Summary of reviews

Escondido Elder Care presents as a small, home-style assisted living with several strong operational features and a few recurring concerns. Many families describe the caregiving staff as friendly, attentive, and responsive; reviewers commonly highlight a family-like atmosphere, engaged ownership, timely appointment coordination, and freshly prepared meals. The facility is generally described as clean and well maintained, and multiple families said the setting provided comfort and peace of mind for their loved ones.

Care quality and staffing appear to be the facility's primary strengths. Reviewers frequently praise the day-to-day caregivers and describe prompt responses to needs, which several families linked to a sense of safety and good day-to-day management. Medication administration and medical appointment coordination were noted positively by some families, though there are also separate concerns about medication-management practices that warrant direct discussion during a tour.

Dining and physical environment receive generally favorable comments for scratch-made meals and housekeeping. At the same time, there are operational caveats: a number of reviewers indicated that online photos and marketing materials do not always match the current physical space, and outdoor space is limited or absent. The facility's location was convenient for some but considered farther than ideal for other families.

Programing and resident life are mixed in the feedback. While the small, home-like model appeals to families seeking individualized attention, reviewers raised concerns about limited structured activities for residents requiring memory care and about restrictions on television and similar entertainment. These issues suggest that programming and daily structure may be less consistent for residents with higher cognitive needs.

Management and policy areas show a split in experience. Several families described effective communication and a passionate director or ownership presence, which contributed to trust. Conversely, others described concerns about the tone of communication from management, strict visitation policies, and inflexible rules. These contrasting impressions point to variability in how policy and interpersonal interactions are handled.

Overall, Escondido Elder Care may suit families looking for a small, homelike environment with attentive caregivers and freshly prepared meals. Prospective residents and families should schedule an in-person visit to verify physical spaces versus online images, ask specific questions about memory-care programming and daily activities, review medication-administration protocols, and clarify visitation and entertainment policies to ensure alignment with their expectations.

    About Escondido Elder Care

Escondido Elder Care sits at 135 S Tulip St in Escondido, California, with Gaurav Rathi as both manager and CEO, and it's a residential care home for the elderly that's licensed for up to six residents, and the license has been active since September 12, 2023 under License No: 371881424, though people might also hear this type of place referred to as an Adult Foster Home or Personal Care Home in other states. The home has a family-like setting with two on-site caregivers providing 24-hour care, so residents always have help nearby, and they'd get full assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, personal hygiene, and shaving, and if someone needs it, they even provide two-person or Hoyer lift assistance. Meals are home-cooked with three main meals a day and snacks, and there are special diet options for those who need them, which can be comforting for people who used to eating that way at home. Residents have their medications supervised, with licensed nursing support and on-call access to doctors, nurses, physical therapists, and occupational therapists when it's needed, plus the place is equipped to provide dementia and memory care, so people with memory loss get extra attention and supervision. There's respite care and hospice support when a resident's health declines, and laundry, housekeeping, and linen services are included, just like you'd expect in a place focused on making daily life easier. There are engaging activities planned each day, and optional personal touches like haircuts, manicures, and pedicures can be arranged if someone wants those. Incontinence care is available, with two caregivers on staff and a separate group for housekeeping, so residents get clean rooms and fresh clothes. There's medical transportation if residents have appointments, and the staff works with physicians for overall health management. The property sits close to parks, cafes, and pharmacies, which means outings or quick errands are within reach, and even though room types and fee details aren't listed, the home keeps its capacity small so everyone gets more attention in a true residential setting. Services extend to clients of the San Diego Regional Center, and the community's known for staff that create a warm atmosphere where seniors feel supported, judged by an overall ChooseWell Score of 97, and feedback points to attentive staff and a family atmosphere, letting residents keep a sense of home while living in a safe, supportive place.
