    Excellent care mom walking unaided

I'm very grateful-staff provided life-saving care and excellent patient support. My mom is walking without a cane after great physical therapy; the team is friendly, professional, kind, and responsive. The facility is extremely clean, odor-free, safe, and their new technology systems and management communication are helpful; overall I'm very satisfied.

    Summary of reviews

Reviewer feedback for Sunnyview Convalescent Hospital is mixed, with clear strengths in rehabilitative services and uneven performance in day-to-day care and operations. Several accounts highlight a robust therapy program and observable mobility gains; those families credited therapy staff and new technology systems with positive outcomes. There are also multiple accounts of staff members described as kind and professional and, in some cases, management that responds to family concerns.

Care quality perceptions vary considerably. Positive experiences emphasize effective physical/occupational therapy and timely acute-care interventions. Conversely, other accounts describe serious care concerns, including events that required hospital transfer. These contrasting accounts suggest variation in care consistency across shifts, units, or individual staff, rather than uniformly homogeneous performance. Prospective families should therefore evaluate clinical-safety practices, transfer protocols, and incident communication during a tour.

Dining and nutrition receive mixed comments. Some reviewers note acceptable meal service, while others cite inconsistent food quality, meals served at inappropriate temperatures, and challenges accommodating specialized diets or liquid consistencies โ€” leading some families to supplement with outside food. Families with strict dietary needs should ask about kitchen procedures, dietitian involvement, and typical meal-temperature controls.

Facility condition and housekeeping are also areas of divergence. Several reviewers praised clean, odor-free areas and an orderly environment, while others described sanitation and odor concerns and called for more frequent housekeeping. Relatedly, reviewers raised concerns about personal-care hygiene practices, including bathing and incontinence-care timeliness. These comments point to variability in routine resident-care tasks and facility maintenance that may depend on staffing levels and shift coverage.

Communication and management responsiveness are described as both strengths and weaknesses. Some families reported helpful, responsive staff and accessible management; others described delayed responses to calls and difficulty reaching staff by phone. This inconsistency affects family confidence and should be explored by asking about staff-to-resident ratios, on-shift supervision, and typical family communication channels.

Notable patterns across the feedback are polarization between strong rehabilitative outcomes and uneven basic-care execution, and variability that appears tied to staffing and operational consistency. For decision-making, visitors should tour the facility during different shifts, request information on staffing levels and turnover, review therapy outcome metrics, ask about housekeeping schedules and dietary accommodations, and inquire about formal procedures for incident escalation and family notification.
