    Professional, compassionate staff; clean, safe

I had a very good experience - the staff were professional, kind, and attentive, and nurses and therapists provided strong, recovery-focused care. The facility felt clean and home-like, meals were solid, and there were plenty of activities; Director Alberto and the team were responsive. I felt safe, heard, and well cared for and would recommend this place.

    Summary of reviews

The Grove Care and Wellness elicits strongly polarized experiences. Many families and short-term rehab patients describe an environment that is clean, well presented, and staffed by compassionate caregivers. Positive comments cluster around the facility’s rehabilitation services, attentive CNAs and nurses, a warm hotel-like aesthetic, and a strong activities program that fosters a social, community-oriented atmosphere. Several accounts highlight rapid and effective fall response, helpful move-in coordination, bilingual staff availability, and maintenance responsiveness.

Clinical and care-quality observations are more mixed. Numerous favorable reports emphasize excellent therapy outcomes and close clinical attention during rehab stays; conversely, a number of families reported delayed responses to call bells, missed or incorrect medication administration, and concerns about the accuracy of clinical documentation. These observations suggest variability in clinical consistency and supervisory oversight that prospective families should probe during a tour and care-transition planning.

Dining and daily living feedback is similarly mixed. Many reviewers praised high-quality meals, holiday dining, and accommodations for specific diets (including vegan options in some instances). At the same time, there are repeated notes about inconsistent meal quality and limited flexibility for special dietary needs. Room size and layout were generally seen as positive for many units (spacious rooms and closets), but some units have smaller studios and bathrooms that may not meet every resident’s mobility needs.

Operational and logistical themes recur across reviews. The facility’s downtown location offers convenient access to local landmarks but creates parking and street-accessibility challenges for visitors. Some reviews flag limited private outdoor walking space and elevator reliability as potential mobility constraints. Communication gaps reported at reception, variable staffing coverage (particularly at peak or overnight hours), and instances of perceived profit-driven prioritization have contributed to family concerns about incident follow-through and property/security handling.

Overall impression: The Grove offers clear strengths in rehabilitation programming, cleanliness, dining (in many cases), and a warm, community-focused atmosphere backed by many caring staff members. At the same time, prospective residents and families should assess operational consistency — specifically staffing patterns, medication and documentation procedures, dietary flexibility, parking/accessibility, and incident-communication protocols — during visits and care-plan discussions. Concrete steps such as meeting the clinical team, reviewing medication safety practices, asking about staffing levels at different shifts, and touring specific unit types will help families determine whether the facility’s strengths align with an individual’s clinical and lifestyle needs.

About The Grove Care and Wellness

The Grove Care and Wellness sits at 3401 Lemon St in Riverside, CA, where people find a skilled nursing facility with both independent and assisted living options, so if someone needs more help or can manage fine on their own, they can stay in the same community, which helps make life easier for everyone. Residents at The Grove get personalized care plans, and the staff speaks English, offering on-site medical care for those who need it, along with short- and long-term rehab programs and in-house physical therapy using modern and hands-on methods, all in an aim to help people regain strength and mobility, which is especially good for people coming out of hospital stays or dealing with long-term issues. People find comfortable, spacious rooms and common spaces, a lounge where they can enjoy movie nights and fun games, plus social activities and excursions meant to help keep everyone active and connected to others, which is important when you're living away from family or trying to stay busy. The community serves both seniors and people with disabilities, focusing on safety and independence, and gives access to meals made with quality ingredients for good nutrition, and Wi-Fi in the community rooms. The Grove also has health education learning centers, a full health library with medical tests and medication information, symptom checkers, and behavioral health recovery support, so families and residents can learn and manage health at every stage. Emergency services and a care guide for families and patients are on hand to help with difficult or urgent situations. The staff helps coordinate assistive devices and offers resources concerning elder abuse and fall prevention, which families and residents might find useful if they're worried about safety. There's a focus on providing legislative information and supportive services that can help guide families through some of the harder decisions around elder care. The facility doesn't take new patients at this time, and while the office hours aren't known, people say the staff's friendly and service is good, which makes residents and families feel cared for and understood.
