    Compassionate attentive small home care

I'm very happy with my mother's care at this small, five-resident home. The hands-on owner and staff are attentive, knowledgeable, and compassionate, and kept close communication with our family. The house is immaculate, beautifully decorated with lovely grounds and private bathrooms in each room - meals are fresh and delicious. Residents are welcoming and it truly felt safe and at home; I highly recommend this facility.

    Summary of reviews

Summerfield Care Home presents as a small, residential-style facility with several consistent strengths. Families describe a hands-on owner and caregiving team who deliver attentive, compassionate care in a home-like environment. The facility’s small scale (five residents in multiple accounts) appears to support individualized attention and continuity of staff; reviewers repeatedly referenced long-term staff experience and a sense of safety and comfort for residents.

Physical environment and daily living are commonly praised. The home is described as clean, brightly decorated, and well-kept, with private rooms that include bathroom fixtures and pleasant views. Common areas such as a dining room and living room are characterized as welcoming and cheery. Dining receives strong positive comment: meals are described as fresh, flavorful, and restaurant-like, and the dining setting is viewed as a benefit to residents’ daily life.

Operational and management patterns show mixed feedback. Positive patterns include close family communication in many accounts and reportedly smooth move-in transitions. However, several families raised concerns about administrative accessibility and process gaps: phone and voicemail systems are described as inadequate, making the facility difficult to reach at times. Reviewers also mentioned uncertainty around pricing and additional charges beyond the base fee, indicating an opaque fee structure that prospective families should clarify in advance.

Other operational themes include activity and clinical coordination. A few comments describe residents spending extended time in rooms or limited interaction, which points to potential limitations in organized activities or staff-facilitated engagement. There are also notes about variability in external clinical provider quality and specific discharge experiences that felt rushed; these suggest the facility’s coordination with outside clinicians and its discharge-planning processes may be inconsistent. Prospective families should inquire about activity schedules, clinical oversight (including primary medical coverage), and discharge planning procedures.

Overall, Summerfield Care Home appears to offer a high-touch, homelike option with strong food service, clean and attractive surroundings, and a committed caregiving team. The main areas to probe further during a visit are the fee structure, communication systems, activity programming, and how the home manages clinical coordination and transitions of care.
