    Longtime resident praises warm community

I've lived here five years and feel truly at home - Camlu, Kelsey, Yolanda and the whole staff are warm, attentive, and go above and beyond. The community is clean, bright and welcoming, residents are friendly, and there are plenty of activities and outings (bingo, music bingo, shopping trips, casino). Meals are homelike - breakfasts like oatmeal, sausage, eggs over easy, wheat toast and coffee are regular favorites and can be brought to my room - rooms are renovated, I could bring my own furniture, and it's affordable. I recommend it for anyone wanting caring staff and a real sense of community.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Reviewers portray Novellus Stockton Assisted Living as a small, community-oriented facility with many strengths in hospitality and social programming. Across comments there is consistent appreciation for warm, welcoming staff and a family-like atmosphere. The community is described as clean, with refreshed common areas and renovated apartments in many units; these features, combined with an active calendar of activities and outings, contribute to a positive daily experience for many residents.

Care and staffing: Many accounts emphasize compassionate, attentive caregivers who create a supportive environment and personalized attention. However, there is a recurring operational concern about inconsistent staffing and coverage. Families described occasions when front-desk staff or care staff were not immediately available, and several accounts indicate delays in attending to residents' mobility or appointment needs. More seriously, a few reviews referenced clinical incidents that highlight gaps in incident response and family communication; these suggest the facility may benefit from clearer protocols for transfer safety, emergency coordination, and escalation to families or outside providers.

Dining: Dining receives mixed but generally favorable comments. Multiple reviewers praised meal delivery to rooms, varied menu choices, and particular favorites at breakfast. Several reviewers described meals as tasty and improving over time. At the same time, some noted variability in food quality between shifts and offered minor critiques of table presentation in the dining room. Prospective families may want to sample meals across different times to assess consistency.

Activities and community life: Activities and social programming are among the facility's stronger points. Regular events such as bingo, music nights, themed evenings, shopping trips, and occasional outings (e.g., casino, Walmart) are mentioned frequently, along with small-group activities that foster social bonds. Reviewers frequently reference a warm, social culture where residents socialize and families are welcome to participate.

Facilities and environment: Many reviewers praise renovated rooms, the ability to bring personal furniture, and cleaner, refreshed common areas. The location is cited as convenient. Nevertheless, there are notes about uneven conditions—some parts of the facility are described as older, darker, or in need of additional maintenance. There are also specific mentions of odor concerns in some hallways or common spaces that could indicate gaps in sanitation or housekeeping attention in particular areas.

Management and communication: Experiences with management are mixed. Some families compliment responsiveness during tours and refurbishment efforts; others describe dismissive or unhelpful responses when raising concerns, and a lack of front-desk coverage that undermines perceived security and responsiveness. Financial communication is another theme: reviewers noted cost increases and the potential for unexpected financial strain, suggesting a need for clearer fee schedules and discussions about level-of-care rate changes.

Notable patterns and guidance: The pattern across reviews is a facility that provides a warm, activity-rich, and value-oriented environment, led by staff who are often described as caring and personable. Offsetting strengths are operational concerns—particularly staffing consistency, front-desk availability, occasional sanitation/odor issues in parts of the building, and gaps in clinical-incident handling and family communication. Prospective residents and families who prioritize social engagement, a welcoming staff, and affordability may find Novellus Stockton appealing, but should ask targeted questions during tours about staffing ratios, front-desk hours and security protocols, clinical incident procedures and transfer policies, recent renovation plans for older areas, and how fee increases are communicated and implemented.

    About Novellus Stockton Assisted Living

Novellus Stockton Assisted Living sits in a two-story building with studio and one-bedroom apartments, featuring rooms from 338 to 523 square feet, private or shared setups, and bathrooms with grab bars and accessible showers, which makes things safer for folks who need a little help moving around, and you'll see a good variety of options depending on what you're looking for or can afford, since they offer flexible pricing and both private and shared bedrooms, and the apartments have kitchenettes, cable wiring, and emergency pull cords for emergencies. The community runs round the clock, with staff and caregivers ready 24/7, and licensed nurses and therapy providers are on-site, helping with needs like memory care, diabetic support, incontinence issues, medication management, and ambulatory assistance, so whether you need a bit of extra support or more hands-on care, they'll build a personal care plan for you, and you don't have to worry about things like daily chores, since the staff handles cooking, cleaning, laundry, and even dry cleaning, along with bathrooms and maintenance needs, and you get three chef-prepared meals each day, with special diets considered.

The grounds are quiet and well-kept, with a memorial rose garden, patios, and gazebos if you want to get outside, and pets are welcome, though you should check what's allowed. Inside, there's a café, bistro, beauty salon, and barber shop, so you can get haircuts, have coffee, or just sit and chat, and they've got community rooms with TVs, a recreation room with billiards, Wii and shuffleboard, and an arts and crafts space. Folks can join activities like art classes, musical groups, gardening, game nights, shopping trips, and weekly live music, and there's always a full calendar so you don't get bored, with lectures, story time, and education programs for those who like to keep their minds busy, and fitness classes and wellness activities for folks who want to move. Wi-Fi covers the building, and there are places for group events, meals, and socializing, making it easy to meet neighbors or invite family.

Novellus Stockton Assisted Living supports a wide range of needs - from assisted living and Alzheimer's or memory care, to respite and hospice, and even adult day services or home care that's non-medical, and it's set up for independent seniors and those who need help with daily activities, like bathing, dressing, taking medicines, or moving around. The team focuses on transparency and reasonable pricing, and stays up to date with state licensing. They take payment by check or credit card and offer free transportation for appointments, errands, and group outings. Safety's front and center, with emergency call systems, handrails, and accessible features throughout the place, and you'll see nurses, personal aides, and caregivers available day and night.

Meals are eaten in restaurant-style dining rooms that encourage gathering, and there's always a chance to build friendships over food or hobbies, since the staff sets up group trips, community parties, and opportunities to explore local attractions, shopping, and entertainment, trying to make sure no one feels left out. There are five levels of personalized care, so folks can keep their dignity and independence, and plans are updated as people's needs change. Housekeeping, laundry, and pharmacy services make it easier to relax, and with so many options-whether you want independent living, need help for memory problems, or are looking for a short break with respite care-Novellus Stockton Assisted Living tries to be a steady, friendly place for seniors to live as comfortably and independently as they can.
