    Homey facility with excellent amenities

I toured several places and chose this one - I'm very happy. The facility is beautiful and spotless, staff are warm, attentive and professional, and the dining/kitchen are excellent. It feels homey with lots of activities and great amenities (theatre, salon, gym), and gives real peace of mind.

    Summary of reviews

Elmbrook Village at Bozrah/Norwich presents as a modern, well‑maintained senior living community with a broad set of amenities and an active social program. Reviewers consistently note the facility’s cleanliness, attractive public spaces, and large apartment footprints (including two‑bedroom units with kitchens and private decks). On‑site amenities such as a theater, gym, chapel, salon, pub, multiple dining rooms, and organized life‑enrichment programming contribute to a strong sense of community and frequent resident engagement.

Care quality and staffing are frequent focal points. Many families praise compassionate, involved caregiving and staff who know residents and families by name, with effective onboarding and move coordination in numerous cases. The community offers multiple levels of care, including a dedicated memory‑care wing with tailored activities and outdoor covered space. However, there are recurring operational concerns: staffing continuity and shortages were cited, and there are noted gaps in medication management and clinical oversight in some accounts. These issues, combined with variable staff conduct and occasional brusque communication from specific employees or leadership transitions, create mixed experiences for families.

Dining is widely regarded as a strength. The kitchen is described as producing fresh, varied meals with healthy options, theme nights, and accommodations for dietary needs. Social dining and multiple serving venues add to the resident experience. A minority of comments describe inconsistent meal temperature or missed meal escorts, indicating some variability in meal‑service execution and resident support during dining.

Activities and wellness programming are robust on site, including exercise classes, a professional trainer, arts and crafts, movies, field trips, and live entertainment. Reviewers express a desire for more off‑site and outdoor activity opportunities and note limited transportation resources (e.g., infrequent van service), which increases reliance on families for errands and outings.

Facility operations and management show strengths and weaknesses. Many reviewers report proactive, transparent communication and helpful front‑desk service; others experienced poor communication during admissions, abrupt staff interactions, or last‑minute changes that created stress. Pricing and fee structure drew attention as higher than some prospective residents expect, and a few noted separable service charges (for example, telephony) that affect perceived value. Accessibility is generally good in public areas, but some apartment design elements—such as plush carpeting and distance to dining—may not suit residents using walkers or wheelchairs.

Overall, the community is frequently described as clean, attractive, and socially active with high‑quality dining and a caring staff core. Prospective residents and families should weigh those strengths against operational considerations: ensure clarity on staffing levels, medication protocols, transportation availability, and fee bundling during the tour and contract review. For families with memory‑care needs or who prioritize an active social calendar and upscale amenities, Elmbrook Village offers compelling features; families who require frequent off‑campus transport, intensive clinical services on site, or guaranteed continuity of specific direct caregivers should seek detailed, written commitments from management before moving forward.
