    Compassionate professional care and welcoming

I moved my mother here and have been very pleased - the staff are friendly, professional and compassionate, and the rehab/therapy and medical support are excellent. The dining (Bistro), bright atrium, beautiful grounds and well-designed apartments feel safe, comfortable and welcoming, with abundant daily activities and easy access to local amenities. I'm grateful for the care and would highly recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

Meadow Ridge is described across reviews as a well-appointed, amenity-rich senior living community with many strengths. Reviewers consistently praise the facility’s physical environment: bright, spacious apartments, a large plant-filled atrium, landscaped grounds and multiple indoor/outdoor social spaces. The campus amenities — pool, gym, theater, courts, and dedicated creative spaces — and proximity to medical, shopping and cultural services are repeatedly noted as key lifestyle strengths for prospective independent and assisted living residents.

Care and staffing are a prominent theme. Many families and residents highlight compassionate, professional caregiving staff and a skilled therapy team; on-site rehabilitation and occupational/physical therapy programs receive frequent commendation for personalized plans and successful recoveries. At the same time, reviewers cite operational variability: nights and weekends are sometimes covered by outside agency staff, call-button response times can be slow, and on-site physician availability is reported as inconsistent. These patterns translate into occasional delays in clinical responsiveness and family communication; prospective residents should ask specific questions about staffing ratios, after-hours medical coverage, and expected response times.

Dining and housekeeping elicit generally positive sentiment for menu variety and presentation — multiple dining venues including a bistro, themed meals, and accommodating staff are common highlights. However, there are repeated notes about inconsistent food preparation quality and service continuity. Housekeeping and maintenance are described as thorough in many areas (daily room upkeep and laundry), while a minority of commenters report unit-level maintenance or sanitation concerns. Prospective families may want to confirm standard onboarding practices (for example, dining access during the initial residency period) and routines for maintenance requests.

Activities and social life are clear strengths: a broad calendar of classes, lectures, outings to museums and theaters, music, and resident committees supports an engaged community atmosphere. Several reviewers emphasize the social benefits of living there compared with community isolation. Management and administrative feedback is mixed: some reviewers describe efficient, communicative admissions and care coordination, while others note limited administrative presence during some off-hours and instances of unclear communication. There are a few serious, individual allegations including concerns about billing and an adverse infection-control outcome; those items are less common but significant in nature, so families should inquire about financial oversight, complaint resolution processes, and infection-control protocols.

Overall, Meadow Ridge appears to offer a high-quality campus experience with strong rehabilitation services, plentiful activities, attractive facilities, and a generally compassionate staff. The principal operational caveats to weigh are staffing consistency (particularly nights/weekends), variability in medical-provider access and call response, occasional maintenance/housekeeping lapses, and some inconsistency in dining execution. Prospective residents and families would be well served to tour during different dayparts, ask for staffing and emergency coverage schedules, review therapy outcome measures, and clarify billing and maintenance processes before admission.

    About Meadow Ridge

Meadow Ridge sits on 136 acres in Redding, Connecticut, where people can enjoy wide-open spaces, walking trails, and elegant indoor spaces like a three-story atrium and an indoor pool with high ceilings, wooden beams, and big windows for lots of natural light, and the apartments themselves, which go from 850 to 2,600 square feet, have things like custom closets, patios or balconies, fireplaces, stone countertops, and crown molding, which makes the place look upscale, but at the same time, residents can count on 24-hour nurse coverage, monitored call systems, and different levels of care right on the same campus. Here, the Ridge Crest Health Center offers help for recovery after hospital stays and delivers services for both long-term nursing care and short-term rehabilitation, and there's a separate memory care unit for people with Alzheimer's disease and dementia, built to keep them safe and comfortable while reducing confusion. Staff make sure to personalize care, whether it's independent living for those wanting an active, maintenance-free life, or assisted living help with day-to-day things like medication, dressing, or bathing, or home care from a trained aide, and there's a Lifecare contract that helps residents stay in familiar surroundings even as their needs change over time.

Meadow Ridge has won awards in senior living for care, activities, support, and friendliness, and people living here include authors, businesspeople, artists, and travelers, which creates an active, interesting community with social activities, classes, and entertainment on a regular schedule. Residents can gather for meals in restaurant-style dining rooms and private bistros, and there's a focus on healthy, nutritious food with gourmet touches that make meals a pleasant part of the day. There are places for spiritual support with devotional services both on campus and elsewhere, and there's a library, billiards room, card and game room, salon, dog park, and fitness center, so people always have somewhere to go or something to do, and the Wi-Fi lets residents stay connected however they want, though the exact internet or satellite details aren't listed. The apartments are age-restricted and maintenance-free, so active seniors can come and go as they please without worrying about lawn care or repairs.

Meadow Ridge does a lot to ensure everyone is included, with protections in place against discrimination based on gender identity or orientation, and LGBTQ individuals are protected in public areas, housing, and employment policies too. The campus supports accessibility, but the details on parking, garages, floors, and certain entrance features aren't clear. Residents and their families can check out photo and video galleries of daily life, tour the campus, and use an online portal for community news and events, and there's always 24-hour staff available. Meadow Ridge, at 100 Redding Road, covers a lot of needs and offers support designed to help residents live well, stay social, and get care when they need it.
