I placed my mom here and have been very pleased - the staff are warm, attentive and genuinely caring, and leadership is responsive. It's cottage-style memory care with private rooms/baths, chef-made meals, personalized touches (they even remembered her birthday), and a lively activities calendar including live music and weekly outings. The grounds are beautiful, secure and walkable with porches and gardens, and the homey dining and small-house feel helped her thrive. I recommend touring if you want safe, compassionate, small-community care.

Summary of reviews
The Cottages at Belleair present a clear strengths-and-weaknesses profile. Many families and visitors describe a warm, home-like environment created by the cottage model: small houses, private rooms with en-suite bathrooms, porches and gazebos, and landscaped grounds that enable safe outdoor access for memory-care residents. The facility’s on-site kitchen and chef-prepared meals, regular outings and entertainment, pet-friendly policies, and a range of social activities are repeatedly cited as contributors to quality of life. Several reviewers also praised individual staff members and leaders for responsive admissions, attentive caregiving, and coordinated interdisciplinary support that includes nursing and therapy services.
Care quality perceptions are mixed. Positive accounts emphasize personalized attention, respectful staff–resident interactions, and effective transitional care for residents coming from higher-acuity settings. Conversely, a subset of families raised serious operational concerns: inconsistent staffing coverage, variable caregiver experience, and uneven nurse supervision. These issues are associated with lapses in incident communication, inconsistent medication administration practices, and variability in incontinence-care and sanitation processes. Some serious individual incidents prompted involvement of external advocates and state-level attention in isolated cases, which underscores the importance of clarifying clinical oversight during a tour.
Dining and activities are frequently highlighted as strengths, with many residents enjoying chef-prepared meals, communal dining, live music, and regular outings. At the same time, other families described menu repetition and inconsistencies in meal quality. Activity programming is present and varied—games, exercise, arts, and outings—but its frequency and intensity appear to depend on staffing levels and resident cognitive/functional status; some families noted reduced daytime stimulation for residents with advanced dementia.
Facilities and campus design receive consistent praise: cottage-scale homes, private kitchens or kitchenettes in some units, large yards, walking trails, and single-level living that supports mobility. Maintenance and landscaping are often described as well-kept, although there are periodic sanitation and housekeeping inconsistencies cited. Emergency preparedness is an operational area to probe further—one review cited lack of power continuity during a major storm, suggesting the need to confirm current generator and continuity plans.
Management and administration elicit both strong praise and concerns. Many families commend specific leaders and the admissions team for empathy and follow-through; other families point to administrative turnover, communication lapses, and disputes over services or refunds. Given this variability, prospective families should ask targeted questions about staffing ratios, nurse coverage, turnover metrics, incident-reporting procedures, sanitation and infection-control protocols, elopement-prevention measures, medication administration safeguards, and contractual terms about services and refunds.
In summary, the Cottages at Belleair offer a residential, cottage-model memory-care option with notable strengths in atmosphere, outdoor access, and social programming. However, persistent themes around staffing consistency, clinical oversight, communication, and operational reliability warrant careful due diligence. A thorough tour, direct observation of mealtime and activity periods, and specific questions about emergency plans, nurse staffing, and quality metrics will help families assess whether the facility’s prevailing strengths align with their loved one’s care needs.

About Cottages at Belleair
Cottages at Belleair sits in Clearwater, Florida, close to beaches, parks, and local attractions like the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, marinas, and golf courses, and it's arranged on a campus with a single-story design that makes getting around simple for residents, especially those with walkers or mobility devices, and has cottage-style residences with both one-bedroom and two-bedroom arrangements, including private and companion cottage suites, each with cozy layouts, porches for morning coffee, and spacious living areas that feel like home. The facility holds a license as an Assisted Living Facility (AHCA License Number 9666) and offers up to 98 beds for assisted living, memory care, and respite care residents, all set up to provide necessary support while encouraging every resident's independence as much as possible.
Staff and care teams work throughout the day and night, giving around-the-clock support for daily needs, whether that's helping with bathing, grooming, taking medicine, or tidying up, and the facility's housekeeping and linen services keep things fresh and clean, while staff pay close attention to what each person needs, adjusting care to their physical, emotional, and social well-being as needed. The on-site nurse is there part time for extra healthcare support, and on-site physician visits make it easier for residents to keep up with medical care without needing to travel far.
For those living with Alzheimer's or other types of dementia, Cottages at Belleair offers its specialized Rediscovery™ memory care program, where residents can reconnect with daily routines and spend time with others facing similar memory challenges, all within a safe, structured cottage setting designed to prevent confusion and wandering, and staff receive training to support both safety and quality of life for those with dementia. The community also provides short-term respite care, welcoming seniors who need extra help after an illness or when their regular caregiver needs a break.
Daily life includes a wide range of scheduled activities-arts and crafts, group outings to local parks, fitness and exercise classes, musical entertainment, church services, and Bible study all help keep everyone engaged and connected to others, while a robust activity program means there's usually something to do, whether it's enjoying entertainment venues on-site, working on hobbies, or simply strolling the landscaped grounds with their secure gardens, shaded walking paths, and safe open spaces where pets can roam-since the facility is pet-friendly and welcomes both cats and dogs. Residents can enjoy communal dining rooms and chef-inspired home-style favorites, with meals crafted to meet a variety of dietary needs in a friendly and home-like atmosphere, while the beauty salon and barber on-site help keep everyone feeling their best.
Those who visit notice the facility's clean environment, well-kept surroundings, and the efforts put in to make sure everything feels welcoming and organized, and the cottages themselves are built for comfort, with covered porches, bright gardens, and lots of places to sit and enjoy the Florida weather. Transportation services help residents get to appointments or enjoy group excursions. Staff have a reputation for their friendliness and kindness, doing their best to treat each resident like family and tailor each care plan to individual needs, all while encouraging as much independence as possible. Tours are available for those wanting to see the cottages, meet staff and residents, and get a close look at daily life in the community, which is known for providing honest, comprehensive support for seniors in assisted living, memory care, or those staying for respite.
