    Caring, clean family-run memory care

I placed my mother here and have been very pleased: the family-run, home-like community is spotless, beautifully furnished, and set on a peaceful lake. Staff-from the director to activities and memory-care teams-are caring, responsive, and engaging; meals are fresh and homemade, pets are welcome, and residents stay active with daily programs. Communication is easy with 24/7 contact; it's a comforting, well-run place I confidently recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Lake House is frequently described as a well-appointed, lakefront assisted- and independent-living community with many features that appeal to families seeking a home-like setting. Reviewers consistently praise the landscaped grounds, screened lakeside patio, and bright common spaces; many comments also highlight clean interiors, spacious rooms with private bathrooms, and a variety of floorplans and furnishing options. The property presents as newer or recently refreshed in large portions, with accessible amenities such as elevators, a salon, private family dining areas, and locked/secured entry points.

Staff and direct care receive mixed-but-often-positive feedback. Numerous families describe a warm, family-run culture and cite specific staff members and a strong activities director as strengths. The on-site memory-care unit and several named clinical and wellness staff are singled out for compassionate care and personalized attention. At the same time, a pattern of operational challenges appears in reviews: staffing levels and coverage are sometimes inconsistent, supervision and training gaps are noted, and reviewers describe delays in medication administration and clinical response. Related concerns include incontinence-care delays and hygiene issues in certain situations, as well as variability in incident reporting and family notification practices. Security safeguards for personal belongings and monitoring in some common areas (for example, limited cameras) were also raised as operational weaknesses.

Dining and programming are prominent features of the community experience. Many reviewers praise chef-driven meals, holiday menus, and the use of fresh ingredients; resident involvement in meal planning was noted positively. Conversely, other families reported variability in food quality and occasional reliance on pre-prepared items, and some accounts describe limited dietary-aide coverage during meal periods. The activities program is broadly regarded as robust — with music, crafts, outings, and frequent themed events — and the activities director is repeatedly commended. Some families, however, found the schedule redundant at times or wished for more evening and weekend programming.

Facility operations and management earn mixed assessments. Several reviewers praise responsive leadership, direct administrative access 24/7, and an active resident council. Others point to maintenance and cleanliness variability in older or high-traffic areas (for example, damp or worn carpeting in places), limited laundry capacity creating service delays, extra ancillary fees that affect affordability, and occasional privacy-management issues in occupied rooms. Memory-care capacity and the community’s suitability for advanced dementia care were described as strong in some accounts and insufficient in others; prospective residents needing higher-acuity services should evaluate capacity and transfer pathways carefully.

For prospective residents and families: Lake House offers a pleasant, activity-rich environment with many amenities and an overall family-like culture. Those attracted to the setting and on-site services should balance those strengths against operational areas to probe further. Recommended topics for a tour and follow-up conversations include current staffing ratios and coverage (especially evenings/weekends and meal periods), clinical and medication protocols, incident-reporting and family-notification procedures, laundry and ancillary service arrangements and fees, and the community’s capacity and plan for residents with advancing cognitive or medical needs.

    About Lake House

Lake House is a family-owned senior living community with a homelike, bed and breakfast-style setting, offering eight different suite floor plans, so residents can choose private suites, shared rooms, or fully furnished spaces, all with air-conditioning, kitchenettes, and private bathrooms, making transitions easier for everyone. The Moore family, with almost twenty years of experience, runs Lake House, and they've designed the facility to feel bright, clean, and welcoming. Residents enjoy organized events like holiday celebrations and birthday parties, along with a wide variety of recreational activities both on and off site, such as arts and crafts, use of a library, computer room, and a TV lounge with piano or organ, plus meeting rooms and a pavilion for outdoor gatherings or safe visiting, with sidewalks, walking paths, an enclosed courtyard, and outdoor spots for wildlife watching.

There's always staff on hand, providing 24-hour supervision and a nurse call system, so folks can easily get help with medication management, personal care, or activities of daily living, and caregivers are specially trained to help those with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia through custom care plans, memory care activities, and protected spaces to reduce confusion and wandering. Residents get balanced meals in a big community dining room, and the menu is made by a dietitian, so people can have special diets too, like low sodium, gluten-free, or low sugar; organic food and ingredients are used, and there are options for restaurant-style dining, room service, a private dining room, and guest meals. Lake House provides housekeeping, laundry, grocery shopping, and linen services, and there's a beauty salon with a beautician on site. Residents have access to free cable TV, Wi-Fi, high-speed internet, and free parking, and they can get transportation to doctor visits, or arrange for a ride as needed, plus the property is close to the bus line and has resident parking available.

Lake House supports independent living for those who want less hassle but more social contact, as well as assisted living for folks who need daily help, memory care for seniors with Alzheimer's or dementia, and it can provide end-of-life care or hospice services, so people can age in place without moving again. There's also Respite Care for short-term stays, which helps caregivers rest or gives residents recovery time. The atmosphere encourages residents to express themselves, with choices for floor plans and lots of chances for connection, whether through devotional services, offsite activities, or just relaxing in the common areas, and with staff who aim to be friendly, attentive, and compassionate. Every resident gets a personalized care plan, and services are matched to individual needs, so people feel they belong and have the support required to live as safely and happily as possible.
