    Compassionate staff and excellent care

I moved my mother-in-law here and I'm very pleased. The staff are compassionate and professional, attentive and communicative - they went above and beyond setting up home health and excellent rehab. The campus is beautiful and secure (nature paths, pools, fitness courts), apartments are roomy, and dining is varied and high quality. Daily activities, friendly residents, and strong medical services give us real peace of mind; I'd happily recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

Village on the Green presents a mixed but well-defined profile: the campus and independent-living components receive consistent praise for their amenities, social life, and physical environment, while the health-center and skilled-care areas generate recurrent operational concerns. The property is frequently described as attractive, secure, and active — with well-kept grounds, spacious accommodations, a wide range of fitness and recreational options (pool, weight room, bocce, game rooms), and an energetic calendar of outings, classes, and social events. Many reviewers highlight strong rehabilitation services, capable therapy staff and leadership, and a robust continuum of care that includes memory-care and short‑term rehab on the same campus.

Care quality and staffing account for the most significant variation in experiences. Positive accounts cite attentive, compassionate caregivers and effective rehab outcomes; contrasting accounts describe slow responses to call buttons, inconsistent aide availability, and high staff turnover. These operational gaps have been linked to delayed personal care, missed or late medication administration, and uneven execution of toileting and hygiene support. Several reviews also described issues with falls or transfer safety, suggesting the need to verify fall‑prevention protocols and staff training when evaluating the health center.

Communication and care coordination are additional recurring themes. Families praised staff who provide clear updates and proactive case management, while other families reported poor communication, disorganized discharge planning, and delays in transitions back to home or to other facilities. Therapy plans sometimes conflicted with external medical guidance in some reports; prospective families should confirm how the facility integrates external physician recommendations into the care plan and how discharge coordination is handled.

Dining and hospitality are generally strengths but show variability. Numerous reviewers enjoyed varied menus, holiday buffets, specialty dining options, and professional dining service; however, other accounts describe inconsistent meal quality or service interruptions. The campus atmosphere is often compared to a country‑club or resort style, with concierge-like services and active social opportunities, but experiences of dining and meal consistency appear to differ by unit and time period.

Management, finance, and administrative practices appear to be another area of concern for some families. Positive commentary notes professional tours, helpful admissions staff, and transparent pricing for life‑care options; conversely, other reviewers cited billing disputes, delayed capital‑return payments, and concerns about prioritizing new sales or expansion over resident follow-up. There are also isolated allegations of financial misconduct and payment‑card security concerns that warrant direct inquiry during the tour and contract review.

In sum, Village on the Green offers substantial campus amenities, strong rehabilitation resources, and an active independent‑living community. At the same time, variability in health‑center operations — notably staffing consistency, responsiveness to calls, medication and toileting practices, discharge coordination, and certain administrative/financial processes — appears in multiple accounts. Prospective residents and family members should schedule focused conversations and document requests around staffing ratios, clinical oversight, call‑response metrics, medication-safety protocols, recent inspection or incident reports, discharge procedures, and contract/capital‑return terms to assess how current operational practices align with their care expectations.

    About Village on the Green

Village on the Green sits on 80 acres with tree-lined paths, a pond, and well-kept lawns most of the year, although people have noticed the grounds aren't as tidy as they used to be under new management, but you'll still find paved sidewalks, a gazebo, and places to sit outside to visit with friends or watch the ducks. The entrance is marked by a covered portico with manicured landscaping, and the homes with terracotta roofs give a nice, welcoming touch. Residents can pick from independent living in senior apartments or homes, and there are also choices for those who need more support, like assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, adult day care, and a rehab center for those coming out of the hospital or surgery who need to get their strength back, and the facility keeps up-to-date licensing and compliance checks as part of its commitment as a verified partner.

Dining here is handled by chefs and planners who focus on nutritious meals with a changing menu, and restaurant-style service means people can eat with friends and try new things. Meals aren't the only draw; folks find plenty to do with arts and crafts studios, a swimming pool, a community garden, clubs, fitness and wellness classes, lifelong learning programs, and group trips out to places like markets, zoos, golf courses, and festivals, plus there are community events, activities, and social groups so nobody feels left out. The facility keeps things pet-friendly, so people can bring their pets along, and the buildings have wide walkways, ramps, and elevators to help with getting around, and Wi-Fi runs throughout so residents can keep in touch with family or just browse the web.

Village on the Green's campus makes it easier for seniors to stay in one place as their needs change since it's a continuing care retirement community, which means people can live independently and move to higher levels of care-assisted living, skilled nursing, or memory care-if needed, and those with Alzheimer's or dementia get care in specialized, calm neighborhoods designed to cut down on confusion and wandering. Staff provides help with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, or meds for those who need it, but healthy, active folks can live without assistance and enjoy the full list of amenities. The facility even has transportation services, so getting to appointments or outings isn't a struggle.

Residents help shape the community, from the Foundation Advisory Committee that raises and gives out funds, to the many group activities people start and lead. There's a Spiritual Care Center to support different beliefs and needs, and the Lifespace Foundation backs projects that make daily life better for everyone here. People regularly tour the campus, meet the staff, and see what a day's like, including meals and activities, and the community's earned awards for care and support, including "Best of Senior Living" recognition, but even with awards, staff stays focused on serving residents with practical support and a ready hand. Housekeeping, concierge, and optional homecare make daily life a bit easier, and the maintenance-free lifestyle lets folks focus on living how they want.

Village on the Green isn't perfect, and the grounds need a bit more attention these days, but the community's known for its wide range of services, different living options, and attention to health, safety, and engagement for seniors, whether they're living independently or need daily support.
