    Excellent short-term rehab, compassionate staff

My mom's short-term stay was excellent - the staff were welcoming, attentive, and genuinely caring, and the therapists helped her regain strength so she could walk home. The building is clean and beautiful with a bright rehab gym, cozy bistro dining, and on-site clinical services, and nursing communication was responsive. Overall a very positive, recommendable place for rehab and compassionate care.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews for Carrington Place of St. Pete are markedly mixed, with a clear split between highly positive rehabilitation and individual-staff experiences and reports of operational weaknesses that affected other families. Many reviewers praised the facilityโ€™s rehabilitation capabilities, on-site dialysis, attentive therapy staff and aides, and several noted positive outcomes such as improved mobility and effective short-term care. The building, amenities (gym, bistro, porch seating, library), and availability of private rooms and in-room connectivity are also frequently cited as strengths.

Care quality descriptions vary. Positive accounts emphasize compassionate CNAs, responsive night nurses, and therapy teams that produced strong functional gains. Conversely, several reviews describe inconsistent nursing responsiveness, delays in clinical assessment (including diagnostic and medication-timing delays), gaps in documentation, and missed or inconsistent monitoring for chronic conditions. There are repeated references to inconsistent personal-care scheduling (bathing and incontinence-care timing) and occasional rough handling or poor technique concerns; these point to variability in bedside practice rather than a uniform standard of care.

Staff and management perceptions are similarly mixed. Reviewers commonly note caring, personable staff and specific individuals whose work was singled out as exemplary. At the same time, others reported unprofessional conduct, staff distractions on duty, and a lack of accountability or follow-through from administration. Several comments reference turnover and changes in leadership; a few families reported measurable improvement after management or clinical leadership changes, while others cited continuing communication breakdowns between departments and with families.

Dining and activities show a polarized picture. The Brighton Bay Bistro and some homemade or madeโ€‘toโ€‘order options drew praise, as did therapy-centered programming. However, many reviews describe unreliable meal delivery (late or cold trays), inconsistent menu satisfaction, and a reduction in social or craft activities for longโ€‘term residents โ€” suggesting a stronger institutional focus on shortโ€‘term rehab than on sustained longโ€‘term engagement for some residents.

Facility condition and safety concerns are likewise mixed. Numerous reviewers describe the building as clean, wellโ€‘maintained, and attractive; others raised specific sanitation and odor concerns in certain areas, inconsistent cleaning of touchpoints, and reports of broken equipment. Security and asset protection emerged as a notable operational weakness: several accounts mention vehicle breakโ€‘ins, missing personal items, and contested handling of resident funds, indicating a need for clearer policies and stronger protective measures.

Overall pattern: Carrington Place appears to deliver solid shortโ€‘term rehab and benefits from committed individual staff members and useful amenities, but the experience can vary substantially depending on unit staffing, shift, and management stability. Prospective residents and families should consider an inโ€‘person tour, ask about current staffing ratios and turnover, review bathing and medicationโ€‘administration protocols, inquire about incident reporting and assetโ€‘protection procedures, and request recent quality or inspection metrics. Those who prioritize intensive rehab services and certain amenities may have a positive experience; those needing consistently high levels of longโ€‘term nursing oversight or strong administrative communication should verify current operational changes and safeguards before committing.

About Carrington Place of St Pete

Carrington Place Of St Pete offers a range of care options for older adults, including short-term rehabilitation for people who need to recover before going home, as well as skilled nursing and intermediate care for those who need a higher level of support due to frailty or nursing care needs, and you'll find services like assisted living, memory care, and independent living all under one roof, which means residents don't have to move if their needs change over time. The facility has 120 certified beds and usually houses about 114 residents each day, so it's a fairly busy place, and while the building's been around for a while, people say it's kept clean and has a comfortable, home-like feeling, though some inspections have noted issues around infection control, resident assessment, and keeping the environment as homelike as possible, but none of these caused actual harm.

Folks will notice the staff, led by administrator Mr. Joseph Riggs, are often mentioned as very kind and helpful, and there's a head nurse and team providing care and helping with things like medication management, diabetic care, incontinence care, high acuity care, and even help for people who can't move around much, plus rehabilitation services aim to help residents regain skills and hopefully get back home when possible, which is how many want it. The place is managed by Ark Post Acute Network LLC with direct ownership from Cplace Of Florida Holding Group LLC. The nurse turnover rate sits higher than most at about 63.9%, and they report about 3.65 nurse hours per resident per day, so staff do work hard, but there are always challenges in keeping staff numbers steady in places like this.

Residents can get support for spiritual, mental, and social needs, with activities that many find engaging, and at least six reviews give Carrington Place an average of 4.5 stars or more, and it's received awards like the Best of Senior Living All Star Award for being recognized by families and residents themselves. Everyone who stays here has access to things like sign language interpreters, TTYs, and other aids if needed, and folks say staff work to keep the atmosphere friendly and welcoming. There's a focus on patient rights, access to resources, and helping everyone maintain independence if possible, whether through physician-led programs or alternative support like home health and hospice, and with amenities such as high-speed internet, residents can stay connected.

The facility is licensed by the Agency for Health Care Administration and holds an A+ BBB rating, but it's important to know Carrington Place has had 32 total deficiencies from inspections, including several related to infection control and resident rights, though no serious harm was found, and the most recent standard inspection from March 2025 found six deficiencies, so families should weigh these reports. The location provides a variety of medical services, like emergency care, imaging, therapy, oncology, surgery, and more, and aims to enable residents to reach their highest function before returning home, or to remain as independent as possible while living at the facility. Staff and management put residents first, try to keep things comfortable and clean, and work to give older adults choices as their needs change.
