    Clean, caring, safe, home-like community

I placed my mom at Hudson House and I'm very pleased - it's clean, well-maintained and home-like, the staff (Adrian and the team) are caring, professional and attentive, and the home-cooked meals and activities are excellent. Communication is upfront, the layout is safe with no steps, transportation and outings are reliable, and I have real peace of mind here.

    Summary of reviews

The Hudson House presents as a small, home-like assisted living option with several operational strengths and distinct areas for inquiry. Families commonly praise the facility's cleanliness, recent remodeling, and comfortable, step-free layout. Many reviewers highlight a warm, community atmosphere supported by compassionate, personable staff who foster close relationships with residents. Administrative systems are described as organized by some families, and the facility offers home-cooked meals prepared by a daily chef, three meals plus snacks, regular group activities (bingo, games) and bus transportation for outings and shopping. Therapy and mobility-support services are available, and the overall cost is viewed as affordable and transparent by multiple families.

Care quality is mixed in the reviews. Positive accounts emphasize attentive caregivers, individualized attention, and visible progress in residents' mobility or wellbeing. Several families reported good communication and said staff provided peace of mind. However, there are consistent operational concerns to consider: staffing levels—especially overnight—appear uneven, and reviewers linked these gaps to safety-monitoring challenges. Medication-administration processes were described as inconsistent in some accounts, which raises questions about pharmacy coordination and internal medication controls. A serious individual claim about inappropriate use of medication to manage wandering was raised by one family; prospective families should seek direct clarification of medication policies and safeguards.

Dining and activities are generally seen as strengths: home-cooked meals, a variety of activities, and scheduled outings contribute to an engaged environment. At the same time, some reviewers noted dining-area sanitation inconsistencies that merit inspection during a visit. Facility amenities include shared-bathroom options in some units, which may influence accommodation preferences.

Management and operational culture show variability across reviews. While some staff and owners are described as caring and family-oriented, other accounts raise concerns about the tone of rule enforcement, abrupt application of discharge or eviction policies, and owner-level conflict that occasionally appears to affect day-to-day operations. Privacy practices, including unannounced room entry procedures, were questioned in some reports and should be clarified with management.

Recommendation: Prospective residents and families should arrange an in-person visit and ask targeted questions about night staffing ratios and supervision, medication administration and documentation procedures, room-entry and privacy protocols, dining sanitation processes, visitation policy specifics, and the facility's written discharge/eviction policy. Request recent references from current families and inquire how management handles personnel turnover and owner-level disputes. These steps will help determine whether Hudson House's strengths—clean, home-like environment, active programming, and attentive daytime staff—align with your expectations and safety requirements given the operational concerns noted by other families.
