    Excellent attentive dementia memory care

I'm very pleased with the care my mother receives - attentive, dementia-trained caregivers and nurses, reliable med management, and a proactive activities team that keeps residents engaged. The community is clean, thoughtfully designed with large outdoor space, meals are tasty and nutritious (even for special diets), and administration communicates well; I'd recommend it to families seeking quality memory care.

    Summary of reviews

This collection of reviews describes a memory-care community with many operational strengths alongside recurring operational concerns. The facility is repeatedly praised for its dementia-focused model: caregiving staff are commonly described as compassionate and experienced with cognitive impairment, and families often credit caregivers and nurses with meaningful improvements in residents' weight, mood, and activity engagement. Several reviews highlight reliable clinical touchpoints such as on-site medical services, weekly NP visits, neurologist access, and coordination with outside specialists, which support ongoing care needs for complex residents.

The active-life and amenities program is a prominent strength. Reviewers consistently note a broad, well-staffed activities program that includes music and pet therapy, theater, exercise and memory-therapy classes, ice cream socials, holiday and family events, and campus amenities that create a ‘‘town’’ atmosphere. These programs, together with structured neighborhoods, fenced outdoor areas, and well-maintained grounds, contribute to socialization and opportunities for mobility and purpose. Dining is often singled out positively: a skilled chef, adaptable menus (including modified diets), and attractive meal-service practices are described as supporting nutrition and resident enjoyment.

At the same time, a pattern of operational weaknesses appears across the feedback. Staffing levels and coverage are inconsistent in a number of accounts, with families describing busy shifts, coverage gaps, and increased use of agency staff; these dynamics correlate with concerns about responsiveness, shift-to-shift handoffs, and continuity of care. Leadership instability and managerial turnover are recurring themes—families reported changes in executive leadership and nursing leadership, uneven managerial oversight, and variability in how policies are applied. Relatedly, reviewers pointed to gaps in medication-management practices and clinical oversight, and a small number of reviews described serious clinical and consent-related concerns, including an allegation of medication administered without consent and concerns following a resident's hospitalization.

Sanitation and food-quality consistency were also variable across reports. While housekeeping and many dining aspects receive positive comments, other reviews raise sanitation concerns in specific service areas and describe a decline in food quality over time. Communication is another mixed area: several families praised administrative responsiveness and thoughtful family programs, while others described rushed admissions tours, marketing staff who were not fully informed, and inconsistent family updates. Fee increases and perceptions of value for cost were mentioned as a financial consideration by multiple families.

Overall, the facility offers strong, dementia-specialized programming, attractive amenities, and many examples of high-quality, person-centered caregiving. Prospective residents and families should weigh these strengths against operational issues that can affect day-to-day reliability: staffing consistency, managerial stability, clinical oversight, and service continuity. For families considering placement, direct questions about current staffing ratios, the facility’s approach to agency staff and handoffs, medication-oversight protocols, pest-control and sanitation practices, and communication preferences (including requested status updates by text or email) would help clarify whether the facility’s present operational state aligns with their expectations and care requirements.

    About The Memory Center

The Memory Center sits in Johns Creek, Georgia, and offers assisted living, nursing home, and memory care services for seniors, including those with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, and the place is specially built for memory care with a design that's laid out for safety, comfort, and accessibility, including secure walking trails, gardens, and a big courtyard where residents can enjoy the outdoors safely, and there's four neighborhoods of private or semi-private suites that circle a central Town Center, which is bright, open, and has things like a library, movie theater, pub, ice cream shop, general store, and tavern, almost like a small town inside, and the 48 residential suites give seniors space to make their own, whether that's a studio, single or two-bedroom apartment, and there are floorplans and a virtual tour for anyone wanting to see what it looks like before visiting in person. The Memory Center has staff on site all day and night, including nurses and personal care assistants who help with things like bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, medication, wound care, walking, and transfers, plus the center brings in podiatrists, physical and occupational therapists, and even does medication management, so long term medical needs are covered, and people who use wheelchairs or need walking help can get that too. Amenities here include game and activity rooms, outdoor seating, guest parking, Wi-Fi, a beauty and barber salon, washers and dryers, a theater, housekeeping, maintenance, cable TV, and there's a main dining room for restaurant-style meals, with extra nutrition support as needed, and each room or suite can come with a kitchenette if someone wants to prepare their own snack or meal sometimes. There's a full schedule of activities to suit everyone, with things like movie nights, music programs, brain teasers, arts and crafts, exercise and wellness groups, ice cream socials, and even wine and beer available daily for those who enjoy it, and smaller social events or volunteer-led programs help residents get involved and make new friends, plus the outdoor areas and walking paths are safe for everyone, with sprinklers and secure entries to prevent wandering for those who need memory support.

The Memory Center is close to medical resources like Emory Johns Creek Hospital and Pandya Medical Center, and transportation services make sure residents get to appointments or outings without worry, while people can choose custom care plans-whether that's short-term respite stays or more long-term help, and there's support for activities of daily living or special dementia and Alzheimer's programs designed to keep minds active and engaged through hands-on learning, motor skill activities, and programs that use all five senses. Safety features include a 24-hour call system, supervision, and specialized secure environments, and there's a dedicated dementia waiver program for those with specific needs in memory care. Costs range based on the type of room and care level; for example, private and semi-private nursing home rooms cost between $6,000 and $9,000 per month, memory care studio apartments run about $4,000 to $5,500 per month, and assisted living in single rooms starts at around $2,500 to $5,000 per month, while two-bedroom options are also available. Insurance options, housekeeping, and meal plans help ease the day-to-day, and the staff focus on building a real sense of community so residents and their families feel they belong. The Memory Center aims to keep everyone involved, comfortable, and as independent as possible, making it a place where people can feel at home while still having the supports they need.
