    Mom blossomed in caring community

I moved my mom here and she truly blossomed after settling in. The building is clean, bright and homey with a beautiful courtyard, screened porches and updated rooms. Staff-Sandy, Katie, Kimberly and leadership-are attentive, caring and treat residents like family, with good communication, reliable meds and lots of activities (bingo, arts & crafts, outings, yoga). Small, welcoming community with great value; I highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Sunabella of Towne Lake is consistently described as a small, intimate assisted‑living community that emphasizes family‑style care and personalized attention. Many accounts highlight the facility's compact size (roughly 30–40 residents) as a benefit: staff know residents by name, units open onto a central courtyard, and common areas encourage social interaction. The landscaped courtyard, raised beds, screened porches, gazebo and garden features receive repeated praise and are a defining physical asset.

Care quality and staff behavior are recurring strengths. Long‑tenured caregivers, an engaged activities director, and named staff members are frequently credited with compassionate, resident‑centered care. Reviews reference attentive day‑to‑day support (regular two‑hour checks, medication management, and proactive health communication with families) and numerous examples of staff going beyond routine duties to support residents. The small staff‑to‑resident ratio contributes to close relationships and a family‑like atmosphere for many residents and families.

Dining and activities present a mixed picture. The community offers an active calendar—bingo, arts and crafts, wine‑tasting nights, parties, yoga, and offsite outings are all mentioned—and many families report that activity staff tailor programming to resident interests. Dining service in the formal dining room is frequently noted as attentive and well‑presented; however, menu content is described as meat‑heavy, with limited healthy or fruit/vegetable options and some instances of bland or cafeteria‑style offerings. Overall, the social program is a strength while meal variety and nutritional balance are areas where expectations are not consistently met.

Facilities are attractive in several respects but show operational strain in others. Apartment layouts and private baths are praised for generous square footage and accessibility, and the outdoor spaces are a clear selling point. At the same time, reviewers describe an older building with wear and tear, delayed repairs, and episodic maintenance failures (for example, plumbing damage after a freeze and recurring HVAC problems). Housekeeping quality and interior upkeep are described inconsistently—many observers call the property immaculate and well‑kept, while others cite sanitation and odor concerns in some common areas and the need for more consistent room cleaning.

Management and operations show both strengths and vulnerabilities. Families appreciate responsive frontline staff and pockets of strong leadership, but several reviews raise concerns about administrative responsiveness, billing or refund delays, leadership turnover, and temporary fixes rather than lasting repairs. Staffing shortages are cited intermittently as affecting activity frequency, cleaning schedules, and responsiveness to resident requests. Prospective families should weigh the clear strengths in staff compassion, small‑community culture, and outdoor amenities against these operational variability factors when considering placement.

    About Sunabella of Towne Lake

Sunabella of Towne Lake offers a range of care options like assisted living, memory care, independent living, and skilled nursing, so residents can have the right help as their needs change, and Mainstay Senior Living manages it with a focus on personalized resident care rather than a big corporate approach, which gives it a bit of a family feel where the staff treat everyone with compassion and understanding. Residents find private or semi-private apartments, some with kitchenettes, private baths, and ground-floor access, so it's easier for those who don't want stairs to worry about, and the units have cable or satellite TV, Wi-Fi, and emergency call systems for peace of mind, while in the common spaces, there are places like a library, residents' lounge, activity room, outdoor courtyards, card/game room, and guest suites when family visits. People can enjoy a variety of activities every day, including art classes, cooking classes, devotional services both on and off site, group outings, social programs, and wellness events with trained staff around all day and night, so there's always someone to help, and there's a special focus on keeping everyone engaged, whether they like gardening, games, or just sitting outside. When it comes to eating, residents pick from many meal options - there's restaurant-style dining, room service if someone doesn't want to leave their apartment, meals planned by a chef, and it covers special diets too, like vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, kosher, no-sugar, and low-sodium options, and guests can join for meals if they visit. Medical and personal care services are available, including medication management, help with bathing, dressing, and grooming, diabetic and incontinence care, Alzheimer's and memory support, and care staff including aides and medication technicians who are always present, plus transportation and coordination for doctor visits or appointments. Residents can bring a pet in some units, and cleaning comes with housekeeping and laundry services right on site. The building itself is designed for comfort and ease - lots of things like air-conditioning, nice landscaping, beauty services, and amenities on the same floor so people don't have to use elevators if they don't want to. The goal at Sunabella of Towne Lake is to give everyone a warm, safe home where their needs are met, they can keep their independence as much as possible, and there's a good mix of activities and support if they need it, all in a community that puts kindness and dignity first.
