    Welcoming home-like care, excellent therapy

I had a very good experience - the staff are professional, kind, and genuinely caring, often going above and beyond and keeping family well informed. The home-like, social atmosphere and remodeled building felt welcoming, therapy (PT/OT) was excellent, and call buttons were answered quickly. Staff truly seem like family, and I would come back and recommend it. Bonus: I enjoyed the local pizza (Sicario garlic and a spicy Hawaiian) and even the Cascadia frozen burrito.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews of Coeur d'Alene Health of Cascadia present a mixed picture: many families and some residents praise the interpersonal side of care and the facility's therapy services, while other accounts raise operational and clinical concerns. The most consistent positives relate to staff demeanor and rehabilitation—reviewers describe caregivers and therapists as compassionate, patient, and professional, and several note a home-like, family-oriented culture and good communication with families. The on-site therapy and rehab program receives frequent praise for clinical effectiveness and staff expertise.

At the same time, there are recurring concerns about clinical monitoring and infection-prevention practices. Several accounts indicate gaps in hydration and clinical oversight, and some describe instances that resulted in hospital transfer; collectively these point to variability in clinical outcomes and escalation practices. Reviewers also raise sanitation- and odor-related concerns in resident and common areas along with pest-control issues, which suggest inconsistent environmental maintenance and cleaning protocols.

Staff culture appears to be a strength in many interactions: staff are often described as kind, responsive, and willing to go above and beyond, and some employees express job satisfaction and pride in recent remodel work. However, other reviewers note inconsistent staff competency or conduct, occasional lapses in professionalism, and frequent administrative turnover. These managerial patterns—criticisms of leadership responsiveness and several comments about high administrator turnover—are associated with family frustration about follow-up and quality-improvement responsiveness.

Dining and activities produce divergent impressions. Some residents enjoy the social environment and specific menu items, while others describe poor or inconsistent meal quality and negative dining experiences. The therapy and activities programs are generally viewed positively for engagement and rehabilitation focus, but food-service reliability is an area of mixed feedback.

Facility and maintenance issues are another pattern: reviewers note inconsistent facility condition (areas that have been remodeled alongside older spaces), equipment reliability problems (call buttons and televisions), and ventilation or air-quality concerns cited in relation to infection risk. Taken together, these items suggest the need for clearer preventive-maintenance protocols and attention to environmental systems.

In summary, Coeur d'Alene Health of Cascadia appears to offer strong interpersonal caregiving and robust therapy services for some residents, but the facility also exhibits operational weaknesses that affect cleanliness, equipment reliability, dining consistency, and clinical oversight. Prospective families should consider touring the building, asking about infection-control and ventilation measures, reviewing staffing levels and recent turnover, inquiring about preventive-maintenance and pest-control protocols, and discussing care coordination and escalation procedures with management before making a placement decision.
