    Family-style care with loving staff

I placed my dad at Rose Terrace Cottages and am very pleased - the small, three-house setup feels like home and the loving, attentive staff consistently go the extra mile for physical, mental and spiritual care. Meals are family-style, activities are enjoyable, the place is spotless and well staffed with helpful admin and 24/7 support. My dad is happier and clearer mentally, and I recommend this caring, family-like community.

    Summary of reviews

Reviews for Rose Terrace Cottages present a mixed picture with clear strengths and recurring operational concerns. Many comments emphasize a home-like, small-house model with compassionate caregivers, round-the-clock staffing, family-style meals, and programming that supports residents’ emotional and mental well-being. Several reviewers highlighted personalized attention, respectful interactions, and a strong sense of community; those families described residents as happier, more engaged, and spiritually supported in the setting.

Care and staff quality appear to be a distinguishing feature when operations go well: reviewers praised caregivers who go the extra mile, give individualized attention, and help residents regain mental clarity and social engagement. The small three-cottage layout contributes to a domestic atmosphere and opportunities for one-on-one interaction. Activities and social programming were commonly described as enjoyable, and multiple accounts referenced clean, well-maintained living spaces.

However, there are recurring operational concerns that prospective families should consider. Communication between staff, administration, and families was uneven in several accounts, including delays in phone responsiveness and unclear handoffs. Relatedly, reviewers described inconsistencies in staff training and competency, which manifest as gaps in personal-care routines, clothing and personal-item management, and transfer assistance. There are also descriptions of medication-delivery confusion and interruptions to meal-service continuity that suggest weaknesses in some clinical and logistical processes.

Management and administrative coverage emerged as another pattern: some families found the administrative team helpful and present, while others described coverage gaps during staff absences that affected responsiveness. Issues with personal-property management and inconsistent hygiene or daily-care routines were also noted, indicating variability in standard operating practices across shifts.

In summary, Rose Terrace Cottages appears to offer a supportive, intimate environment with strengths in compassionate caregiving, social programming, and overall cleanliness. At the same time, there are identifiable operational risks around communication, staff training and continuity, medication processes, transfer protocols, and property management. Prospective residents and families would be advised to tour the cottages, observe staffing patterns, ask specifically about staff training, medication and transfer protocols, administrative coverage during absences, and procedures for handling personal property and daily-care routines before making a placement decision.

    About Rose Terrace Cottages

Rose Terrace Cottages sits in a quiet spot over in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, with its main address at 632 N 21st St suite c, and has a good reputation, with a 4.0 rating from a handful of reviews, and folks tend to like the homey feel since it's more like a board and care home than a big place, so you'll find the suites are pretty cozy and tucked among gardens and scenic views, plus residents often comment on how peaceful it feels, which suits people who value quiet, nature, and smaller settings. The cottages are designed for both assisted living and residential care, offering help with daily things, like getting dressed, managing medicines, meals each day, and personal care, but you'll also find specialized care for memory loss and Alzheimer's, including 24-hour support and programs under Four Seasons Memory Care, with thoughtful activities to help memory and keep minds active. Each resident has a semi-private, one-bedroom suite, so there's space to make a room your own while being close to help, and the tight-knit setup means staff are easy to find and trained to be both supportive and friendly.

Rose Terrace Cottages works as part of a bigger network of facilities in the Idaho area, so they're able to connect residents with many outside services, covering everything from physical and occupational therapy to hand and sports therapy, and you'll see therapy names like Lakewood Physical Therapy, River City Physical Therapy, and Coeur D'Alene Physical Therapy on their partner list. For special needs, like dialysis, they turn to Fresenius Medical Care, and for those needing chiropractor visits, there's BACK IN HEALTH CHIROPRACTIC, Inc., while if someone requires hospice, Applegate Hospice takes care of the process in a calm and supportive way. They also make it easy to get mental health support, since North Idaho Mental Health Center and the Mental Wellness Clinic of Coeur D'Alene are in the mix, so there's professional help available when needed, and families often notice how much this matters over time.

For medical issues specific to older adults, they bring in folks from places like Coeur D'Alene Pediatrics PA and the Coeur D'Alene Arthritis Clinic, and if seniors need help rehab-wise, there's access to things like massage therapy, specialized hand therapy, and sports rehab, since some older adults are just recovering from something and want to get back to their daily routines. Home care services extend through ResCare HomeCare, and if someone is looking for more independence, the wider group includes independent living, assisted care, skilled nursing, and memory care through different names like Legends Park Assisted Living or Beehive Homes North Idaho, so people can move between levels of care more smoothly as time goes by.

Besides help with health stuff, Rose Terrace Cottages does things to help social and spiritual needs too, with onsite activities that are meant to be both social and educational or just for fun, which is good since staying active makes a big difference, and transportation services are in place so residents can get around town for things like doctor appointments or shopping. Meals are provided each day and suit different dietary needs, and there are indoor spaces for relaxing or joining devotional services even if they're held offsite. The main goal here seems to be making life comfortable and simple, with enough support to be safe but enough room for independence, and folks often say the atmosphere feels like a peaceful retreat where it's easy to relax.
