    Sunny rooms, attentive family-style care

I toured this brand-new, privately owned facility and felt immediately at home. Rooms are clean, sunny and comfortable with nice views and a peaceful courtyard; the staff are warm, attentive and often go above and beyond with one-on-one care and home-style meals (they accommodate allergies and gluten-free needs). My loved one is happy and well cared for - I'm very pleased and would recommend this family-style community.

    Summary of reviews

The Lodge at Fairway Forest elicits strongly mixed impressions. Many families describe a small, home-like setting with caring, attentive staff who provide personalized, one-on-one attention; several reviewers praised individualized meal preparation, accommodation of dietary needs, and active engagement from specific caregivers. The facility’s newer units, comfortable private rooms and courtyard views, and partnerships with home health and hospice were repeatedly identified as strengths that support residents who need a higher level of personal care.

At the same time, a notable pattern of operational weaknesses appears across reviews. Staffing levels and scheduling inconsistency are the most frequent concerns: caregivers are sometimes described as overworked or disengaged, and families reported slow responses to call buttons and delays in routine maintenance. Those operational problems are linked to more serious care-process gaps in some accounts, including interruptions in medication supply and transfers that raised concerns about transfer safety. These issues suggest variability in how consistently clinical and safety protocols are applied.

Dining and activities are generally viewed positively in principle—home-style cooking, allergy-friendly options, and a variety of daily programming were praised—but reviewers also described inconsistent meal portions and occasional limited activity engagement. Facility condition feedback is similarly mixed: some units are described as immaculate and well maintained, while other areas were noted to have odor and cleanliness concerns and slower maintenance response times, indicating uneven facility upkeep across buildings.

Management and communication also drew mixed commentary. Several families appreciated helpful admissions staff, owner involvement, and good communication from specific team members. Conversely, others cited limited management follow-through, unresponsiveness to escalation, and financial barriers such as upfront fee requirements that complicated placement or refunds. Security practices were another recurring operational concern, with notes about unlocked doors and inconsistent access control that could pose a risk for residents with cognitive impairment.

Overall, prospective families should weigh the facility’s strengths—personalized care, small-home atmosphere, dietary accommodation, and newer, comfortable living spaces—against persistent operational concerns tied to staffing, medication oversight, maintenance, and management responsiveness. A careful, hands-on visit that inspects both buildings, asks about staffing ratios and medication protocols, verifies call-button reliability, and clarifies financial and transfer policies would help clarify whether the Lodge’s strengths will reliably match a particular resident’s needs.

About The Lodge at Fairway Forest

The Lodge at Fairway Forest sits on North Player Drive in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and welcomes adults 55 and older who need help with daily living or memory care and who want a safe place to call home. The place offers assisted living, independent living, memory care for Alzheimer's and dementia, adult day services, skilled nursing, hospice, and even home care. The building is easy to get around with elevators, wide halls, and safety features like walk-in bathtubs in every bathroom, safety rails, and a sprinkler system. Residents get the choice of semi-private rooms or studio apartments, many with kitchens or kitchenettes, and can bring some pets. There are 16 licensed assisted living beds, and everything is set up with security in mind, including electronic access controls and trained staff on call around the clock, so people with different needs and health changes can stay here safely.

The facility has California Closets in the suites, cable TV service, internet and Wi-Fi throughout, and private baths for comfort. Meals are cooked with help from dietitians and can fit kosher or vegetarian diets if needed, and everyone gets three meals a day, served in a clean dining room, plus snacks. You'll find a spa, salon, fitness center, swimming pool and hot tub, recreation room, and library where residents can read, play games, or use a computer. Social events, arts and crafts, devotional services, outings, and activities keep people active, and there are educational and wellness programs too, with visiting physicians and registered nurses always available.

Staff helps with daily needs such as bathing, dressing, medication, and getting around, offering more help when it's needed and less when it's not, which suits both independent seniors and those needing more complete care. There's laundry, housekeeping, transportation, maintenance, and dry cleaning, so residents can focus on what they enjoy. The memory care unit gives support to those with memory loss in a safe setting, while friends and family can visit with guest parking nearby. The grounds have beautiful courtyards, outdoor and indoor sitting areas, and everything is designed to feel homelike and welcoming, not cold or formal.

Families can schedule tours, ask for more details, or see photos before choosing. The Lodge at Fairway Forest gets an average rating of 3.9 based on public reviews, with some reports listing 4.5 stars. The staff is described as caring and helpful, and the atmosphere is warm, with careful attention to comfort and dignity for everyone. Residents can find a peaceful and friendly space to live, with support that changes as their needs do, without moving to a different home if their health changes.
