    Excellent attentive memory care community

I moved my mom here and I'm very pleased - a small, family-like community where staff like Shelly and Tanya are warm, professional, and go above and beyond. The memory-care program is excellent: engaging activities, great meals, attentive 24/7 nursing, and a spotless, comfortable facility where residents are treated with dignity. Communication is strong, staff know residents by name, and I'd recommend a visit.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Volante Senior Living of Arlington Heights presents as a small, well-kept memory-care community with many strengths in daily life and social programming. Families consistently describe warm, attentive caregiving, a tidy and modern interior, and a robust activities program that keeps residents engaged. The setting — including large common areas, an enclosed courtyard, on-site salon services, and a single-floor, house-like memory-care layout — supports socialization and ease of movement for residents.

Care and staff: The facility earns frequent praise for compassionate, personalized caregiving and for clinical staff who are described as knowledgeable and attentive. Staff–resident relationships appear strong, with many accounts of staff addressing residents by name, providing individualized attention, and maintaining communication with families about medical events. At the same time, recurring operational concerns include staffing shortages in nursing and the medical department, turnover among staff and managers, and evidence of variability in service continuity. These patterns suggest good day-to-day caregiving in many cases, but potential limitations when residents require higher-acuity skilled nursing or more consistent clinical staffing.

Dining and activities: Dining and programming are clear strengths. Reviewers note varied, generally well-liked menus, regular outings, family dinners, and an activities calendar that includes exercise, art projects, movies, games, and other social events. The activities director is frequently singled out for being proactive and engaging. A minority of comments indicate occasional dissatisfaction with food quality, which points to some variability in dining experiences rather than a uniform problem.

Facilities and amenities: The physical environment is frequently described as clean, modern, and welcoming, with spacious, nicely decorated common areas and practical amenities such as a beauty parlor and enclosed courtyard. Security measures (locked access and password procedures) and infection-control steps (including proactive COVID measures) are noted positively. Resident rooms are functional and furnished when needed, though several families described room finishes as somewhat sterile or plain compared with the communal spaces.

Management and business practices: Management impressions are mixed. Some families praise accessible leadership and knowledgeable directors who communicate well. Conversely, multiple accounts indicate instability following an ownership transition: perceived declines in oversight, changes in management approach, and inconsistencies in operations. Administrative issues are a recurring theme — billing glitches, difficulties setting up electronic funds transfer, contract renegotiation pressure, and unexpected price increases or confusion over all-inclusive pricing. These are facility-level administrative risks that prospective families should review carefully when evaluating financial and contractual expectations.

Notable patterns and recommendation: The pattern across feedback suggests that Volante can offer a warm, active, and safe environment for residents who need memory-focused support and social engagement, particularly where families value close staff relationships and program variety. Potential residents with higher medical complexity or families prioritizing absolute consistency in billing and management stability should seek clear, up-front answers about nurse staffing ratios, skilled-nursing availability, medication-pharmacy processes, and contractual terms. A personal visit and a detailed review of staffing plans, recent ownership/management changes, and the admissions contract are advisable to confirm fit for a given resident's clinical and financial needs.
