    Caring staff elegant safe homelike

I toured the community and was very impressed - the staff (shout-outs to Victoria Stevens and Jessica Weaver) are caring, professional, and genuinely connected to residents, and the nurses are attentive. The elegant, spotless facility and grounds feel safe and homelike with strong amenities (in-unit kitchens/laundry, 24-hour nursing, meals, activities, transport, cat-friendly), and I'd recommend it for assisted living or memory care - overall excellent with just a slight reserve.

    Summary of reviews

Primrose Retirement Community of Anderson is consistently described as a well-maintained, comfortable assisted-living environment with a strong emphasis on resident-centered staff interaction. Reviewers emphasize the quality of interpersonal care: staff are characterized as compassionate, friendly, patient, and knowledgeable, with multiple mentions of staff members who cultivate personal connections with residents and families. The community also reports clinical supports such as 24-hour nursing availability, and reviewers highlight responsiveness and ongoing communication with families as a distinguishing feature.

Physical facilities and apartment features receive frequent praise. Units with full kitchens and in-unit laundry are noted alongside safety features such as emergency call buttons in every room. Common areas — including an attractive dining room, an on-site ice-cream parlor, a library, and an enclosed outdoor area with assisted access — contribute to a home-like atmosphere. Grounds maintenance and interior cleanliness are regularly cited positively, and outdoor amenities such as a walking trail and transportation services add convenience for residents.

Dining and social life are presented as strengths in many comments: meals are provided, the dining space is described as pleasant, and programmed activities (bingo, movies, pub-style get-togethers and other social events) are available. At the same time, a recurring pattern is that activity programming is not always visibly active during visits — reviewers sometimes did not observe scheduled activities. Prospective residents should confirm current activity schedules and participation levels during a tour.

Management and operational patterns are mixed. Leadership and sales staff are singled out for positive engagement and responsiveness, with specific staff members receiving repeated commendations. However, cost and payment policy are consistent operational limitations: the community is described as premium-priced and does not accept Medicaid, leading some to perceive that the value may not align with the cost. Additionally, descriptions indicate a limited range of on-site care levels, which could be relevant for residents with progressing care needs.

Overall, Primrose of Anderson appears to be a well-kept, staff-forward assisted-living community suited to individuals and families able to pay privately and seeking a personable, maintenance-focused environment. Key follow-up items for tours or conversations with leadership include clarifying the level-of-care options available over time, confirming current activity schedules and participation rates, reviewing payment and financial policies, and asking about package/mail handling procedures to ensure they meet individual needs.

About Primrose Retirement Community of Anderson

Primrose Retirement Community of Anderson offers independent living, assisted living, and memory care for seniors who need different levels of support, and folks can choose from private apartments, spacious townhome villas, or memory care apartments, which all have sound-proof walls and concrete floors for extra peace and quiet, and the townhome villas are separate but let residents join all meals and activities in the main community if they wish. The community provides help with daily living, on-site skilled nursing care, and special care for memory loss through its Silver Lace Memory Care program, which is designed for people living with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia, and gives personalized care, ongoing assessments, and dementia-friendly meal options. Residents get wellness programs, life enrichment activities, and a full schedule of social events shown on wellness and memory care calendars, while the staff offers 24/7 on-site nursing, medication help, and a quick emergency response system, helping families feel comfortable about safety and care.

Every apartment and villa has open floor plans, individual air and heat, washer and dryer hookups, and either a patio or balcony, and the community allows pets, so folks won't have to give up their companions, while some apartments have garages or enclosed parking as well. The dining program, called the Artisan Dining Experience, means meals are chef-prepared every day, and people in memory care get three handcrafted meals daily with their amenities package, while everyone can use the ice cream parlor, a billiard room, a library, a movie theater, and a fireplace lounge. Therapy is available on-site through Legacy Healthcare Services, and there are fitness and music sessions for memory care residents, a wellness center for staying active, and wellness calendars to keep track of activities. Families can use the Family Portal and Memory Care Portal to check in on schedules or get updates, and the Telehealth for Seniors program brings medical visits right to the community without anyone needing to go out.

The community sits on a campus with outdoor walking paths, a garden area, outdoor spaces for relaxing, and there's scheduled transportation for shopping or outings, making it easier for seniors who don't drive or just want to get out now and then, and there's also a beauty salon and barbershop, guest suites for visitors, a chapel for worship, elevator access, and easy-to-use floor plans in memory care for those who need them. Primrose Retirement Community of Anderson doesn't accept Medicaid, and monthly leases are funded by private pay, and you won't sign any long-term contracts since everything is on a month-to-month basis.

The staff focuses on person-centered care, providing daily activities that help keep residents mentally and emotionally active, which means things like music, fitness, and social activities form a big part of the routine, alongside regular housekeeping and laundry services. The Silver Lace Memory Care program builds a sense of dignity and connection, and the team works with families and doctors to keep each resident's care plan up to date. The campus supports a comfortable, maintenance-free lifestyle, with extras like a TV lounge, computer lounge, and on-site staff available around the clock to help whenever people need it. The community welcomes folks needing different levels of assistance, whether they're looking for independent living with extra support nearby, assisted living with daily help, or specialized memory care with tailored programs and dedicated staff, and prospective residents or families can take a virtual tour to see the whole place before they decide.
