    Bright comfortable social caring community

I live here and I'm very pleased - a beautiful, well-kept facility with bright, comfortable apartments and a lovely balcony. The staff are warm, attentive and feel like family (Mira, Amanda, Jess and many others really stand out); housekeeping and maintenance are excellent. Dining is healthy, tasty and varied, and there are plenty of activities, outings and on-site therapies to keep me engaged. Overall comfortable, safe, and social - a great place to call home.

    Summary of reviews

Independence Village Fishers East presents as a high-end, resort-like senior living community with many operational strengths and a well-developed activity and amenity program. Families and residents commonly praise the staff’s warmth, day-to-day attentiveness, and the community’s social atmosphere. The campus offers on-site rehabilitation services (PT/OT/SLP), a well-equipped fitness center, multiple dining venues, an on-site salon, transportation/van services, and numerous shared spaces that support an active lifestyle. Apartment options are described as well-appointed — including larger floorplans, granite countertops, and balconies — and the location adjacent to a hospital and shopping is frequently cited as convenient.

Care and staffing quality are a central positive theme: reviewers highlight compassionate caregiving, engaged directors and aides, weekly clinical oversight (physician assistant/clinical staff), and a memory-care neighborhood designed to feel home-like. Many families note smooth transitions from rehab or independent living into higher levels of care, and several reviewers singled out individual staff members (housekeeping, dining staff, drivers, and administrators) for consistently attentive service. Activity programming is robust, with arts, games, exercise, outings, and special events that contribute to a strong community vibe.

At the same time, a pattern of operational weaknesses appears across reviews. Staffing instability and short-staffing after ownership changes or turnover have affected service continuity; this is reflected in accounts of delayed responses to clinical needs, medication-management concerns, and occasional lapses in routine services such as laundry and timely meal delivery. Dining quality is described inconsistently: while special dining events and some meal options are praised, other accounts describe overcooked or salt-forward entrees, menu substitutions, and food running out during service. Housekeeping and unit-level sanitation are generally reported as good but with intermittent complaints about room cleanliness and odor or pest-control concerns in some areas. Exterior and landscaping upkeep is also described as uneven.

Management and communication receive mixed assessments. Positive comments emphasize professional, responsive leadership that keeps families informed and supports transitions. Conversely, other reviews describe lapses in follow-through, slow responses to maintenance or care issues, and affordability concerns as fees increase over time. An important operational note for prospective residents: independent living at this community does not guarantee on-site nursing coverage, and reviewers identify limitations in skilled nursing availability within certain levels of care.

Overall, Independence Village Fishers East offers a strong social environment, attractive facilities, and many clinical and recreational amenities that appeal to active seniors and families seeking a continuum of care. Prospective residents should weigh the community’s amenity and staffing strengths against recent comments about staffing stability, variable housekeeping and dining consistency, and rising costs. A focused pre-move conversation with management about current staffing ratios, recent staffing changes, meal-service practices, housekeeping schedules, and written escalation/communication protocols will help families assess whether the facility’s present operational performance matches their expectations and care needs.

    About Independence Village Fishers East

Independence Village Fishers East sits in Saxony Village, on the northeast side of Indianapolis, and has a friendly, welcoming feel, with staff that folks say are helpful and kind, and this community's often noticed for awards like Best of Senior Living and All-Star awards, and people seem to like the staff's joyful and caring attitude, with 18 online reviews giving it an average of 4.5 stars, so many find it a good place to live. The campus offers 160 maintenance-free apartments in several options, with floor plans that can include private patios or balconies, and inside the apartments are kitchens and bathrooms meant to make living easy, especially if someone wants to keep a sense of privacy and independence. Meals here are prepared by chefs each day, using fresh ingredients, and residents eat together in elegant dining rooms, or maybe at the Bistro Café if they want something more casual, and staff puts thought into food variety and nutrition, so meals can bring a bit of joy to the day. There's also a beauty salon and barbershop on site for haircuts and grooming, and the community is pet friendly, so residents can bring their companions with them, which is important for many. Independent living apartments allow for privacy and autonomy, with extras like housekeeping, maintenance, meals, transportation, and activities, so residents don't have to worry about everyday chores but can still stay as independent as they like. Enhanced living gives seniors some support beyond independent living but with flexibility, as they only pay for the help they really need.

Assisted living offers 24-hour help with medication management and other daily tasks while still encouraging privacy and choice, so residents have support when they need it. For those living with dementia or Alzheimer's, the licensed memory care neighborhood has staff trained for memory support, with environments meant to reduce confusion and prevent wandering, plus intentional activities for cognitive engagement, so families can feel more comfortable about safety and specialized attention, and connection points are included to help memory care residents interact and stay involved.

Short-term respite care and resources for home care, hospice, and long-term care are also available, and guidance for family caregiving and insurance questions is provided, with plenty of tools and glossaries to help families navigate senior living decisions.

Independence Village Fishers East focuses on a maintenance-free lifestyle, social connections, and flexible support, in a culture that values friendliness, personal assistance, and activities for all levels of ability, so each resident can find their own way to enjoy retirement years, whether that's through social events, physical fitness, quiet spaces, or time with pets. Tours show what daily life looks like and let folks see the dining, activities, and apartments, so people can get a clear idea before making any decisions.
