    Longtime resident praises compassionate community

I've lived here for 18 years and feel very fortunate - the community is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained with comfortable apartments. The staff and leadership are compassionate, knowledgeable, and consistently go above and beyond - excellent nursing, housekeeping, maintenance, on-site medical care, and engaging activities keep residents active and cared for. Communication with families is strong and the atmosphere is warm and family-like; I highly recommend this supportive, well-run community.

    Summary of reviews

Allisonville Meadows presents as a modern, well-appointed assisted living community with consistently noted strengths in facility condition, medical oversight, and programming. Many families and residents describe a bright, clean, and hotel-like environment with spacious, well-lit apartments (often including kitchenettes), attractive common spaces, and an adjacent state-of-the-art rehabilitation/skilled nursing affiliate. The community offers onsite medical resources — including a geriatric medical director and visiting specialists — and reviewers frequently cite meaningful clinical benefits such as in-room doctor visits, dysphagia accommodations, and supportive therapy services.

Direct caregiving and nursing receive a mix of strong endorsements and cautious notes. Numerous accounts praise compassionate nurses, aides, and therapy teams who provide attentive, individualized care and often go beyond expectations for end-of-life and post-acute rehabilitation needs. At the same time, a pattern of inconsistent staffing and turnover appears across reviews, with consequences for responsiveness and continuity of care at times. Several families expressed concerns about variable performance among nursing leadership and memory-care personnel; these comments suggest prospective residents with advancing dementia should closely evaluate the memory-care program and staff training during a visit.

Dining and environmental services are also described with both positive and negative patterns. The community operates restaurant-style dining with flexible hours, a la carte options, and accommodations for special diets; reviewers cite a real chef and a system that tracks meals. However, meal quality and service reliability are described as inconsistent, with reports of slow service, variable food temperature, and dining-staff turnover. Housekeeping is generally seen as keeping the facility clean and pleasant, but some reviewers reported delays and inconsistent linen/bed-change practices that indicate variability in operational execution.

Activities and social life are frequently highlighted as a strength. Programming is broad and well-attended — offerings include exercise classes (including Parkinson’s-focused programs), bingo, crafts, worship services, outings, and regular social events — and many residents report making friends and remaining engaged. Families also point to proactive COVID-19 protocols and clear communication during restricted visitation periods, which reassured many relatives during outbreaks.

Management and administrative matters show a split picture. Many reviewers praise move-in coordination, responsive office staff, and strong family communication; others raised concerns about billing, rigid contract terms (including notice and late-fee policies), and occasional perceptions that administrative responses were focused on financial or placement issues rather than clinical nuance. There are recurring notes about limited transportation capacity and some gap between marketed amenities and practical availability.

Bottom line: Allisonville Meadows offers a high-quality physical environment, robust medical affiliations, and a rich activity schedule supported by many dedicated staff members. Prospective residents and families should visit during mealtimes and activity periods to observe staffing levels and meal service, review contract and billing terms carefully, and evaluate the memory-care program and management responsiveness if advanced dementia or high-acuity needs are anticipated.

    About Allisonville Meadows Assisted Living

Allisonville Meadows Assisted Living sits near Community North Hospital and Castleton Mall with easy access to Interstate 69 and 465, and the place has a homelike feel with maintenance-free apartments and garden homes, some set up with walk-in closets, open floor plans, full kitchens, and kitchenettes, so folks don't have to worry about chores since staff handle weekly housekeeping, laundry, and linen services. The community's pet-friendly, so residents can keep their cats or dogs, and there's a pretty outdoor patio, raised garden beds, and places like a cafe, bistro, movie room, beauty salon, library, computer room, billiards lounge, and a fitness center along with fireplaces in the common areas and a piano or organ for music lovers. Meals come three times a day as restaurant-style dining with room service, anytime dining, guest meal options, and special diets like gluten-free, low-sodium, vegan, or low-sugar always available, and people can eat with friends or family in the dining room or order to their rooms, plus there's grocery shopping services if folks like to cook in their own kitchens. High-speed internet, Wi-Fi, and cable TV are free for residents, and there's transportation services and plenty of parking for those who still drive or want to head out for errands, appointments, or trips.

The community offers both assisted living and memory care, so if someone needs help with daily activities like bathing, dressing, or managing medicines, trained staff and nurses are around 24/7 with emergency response systems in place throughout the buildings. Memory care has its own secure building and is built specifically for people living with Alzheimer's or dementia, with staff offering customized care plans, behavior and wandering management using technology like alarmed bracelets, and therapies to help keep residents safe and comfortable. People who need more care can get help with diabetes management, injections, toileting, incontinence, transferring, and even non-ambulatory support such as lift transfers, and there's a team including doctors, nurses (including RN and LPN), therapists, and care managers looking after folks as care needs change over time, from light to total care.

Activities keep everyone as active as they want, from wellness classes in the THRIVE program, exercise like Tai Chi, yoga, and stretching, to art, brain fitness, outings, trivia, Wii bowling, and even devotional services or community service. Social, educational, and spiritual support is part of the daily schedule whether residents live in assisted living or memory care, and hospice care and respite stays for short-term guests are also available, letting family caregivers take a break when needed. The facility handles the moving process through ASC's Smart Solutions program for help with downsizing or real estate.

Allisonville Meadows offers a secure, well-kept, friendly place where older adults get personalized support to keep as much independence as possible, with programs and amenities geared toward comfort, health, and dignity. The community lets residents remain even as their needs change, offers several ways to pay (including Medicaid), welcomes both long- and short-term stays, and believes in values like Compassion, Attentiveness, Relationships, and Excellence. Residents can take a tour anytime to see the rooms and community spaces at their own pace. State license number is 013039.
