    Compassionate, professional care and facilities

I moved my mother here and have been very pleased - beautiful, accessible campus and spotless facilities, warm and professional staff, excellent nursing and therapy that aided her recovery, tasty meals and plenty of activities. The director and housekeeping are attentive, and I would happily recommend this community to families seeking compassionate, high-quality care.

    Summary of reviews

Forest Park Health Campus is consistently described as a warm, serviceโ€‘oriented facility with a strong emphasis on rehabilitation, social programming, and hospitality. Families and residents frequently highlight compassionate nursing and therapy teams, helpful admissions transitions, and a broad activity calendar that includes music, group exercise, crafts, religious services, movie nights and cooking programs. The campus layout and common areas are often praised as attractive and pleasant, with outdoor gardens, multiple dining rooms (including a private dining option), and private apartment units with kitchenettes and accessible bathrooms.

Clinical and care quality impressions are mixed. Many reviewers praise the rehabilitation and therapy departments for effective recovery support and clear communication about progress. At the same time, there are recurring concerns about medication administration consistency and privacy during medication delivery, as well as occasional gaps in clinical skill when specialized care (for example, certain device or wound issues) is required. These concerns suggest the facility performs well for general skilled nursing and therapy but may require closer evaluation when a prospective resident has complex or highly specialized clinical needs.

Staffing is a clear strength in terms of individual caregiver attitudeโ€”staff are repeatedly described as kind, attentive, and hospitableโ€”but staffing levels and operational capacity are noted as limitations. Several accounts describe long wait times for assistance and an impression that staff are stretched thin. Maintenance responsiveness and followโ€‘through on work orders are additional operational areas where families observed delays, and environmental cleaning has been uneven in places (carpeting and some shared spaces were specifically mentioned). These operational issues coโ€‘exist with otherwise high marks for housekeeping and laundry services in many parts of the facility.

Dining and activities are generally strong points: reviewers commonly note wellโ€‘balanced menus, variety, and sufficient time to eat, alongside active engagement opportunities that support social wellโ€‘being. However, there are isolated comments about inconsistent meal quality and occasional lapses in mealโ€‘service continuity, indicating variability between units or mealtimes.

Administrative and policy issues are another pattern to consider. Families noted billing surprises and limitations around payer acceptance (for example, inability to accept certain public payers), which can affect outโ€‘ofโ€‘pocket costs. Communication from management also drew mixed feedback: some reviewers praised clear, responsive leadership, while others found management unclear or slow to address concerns.

Overall, Forest Park appears well suited for residents seeking a socially active, therapyโ€‘focused setting with compassionate staff and pleasant grounds. Prospective residents and family members should tour the facility, inspect specific living areas (especially carpeting and lighting), review medication administration and privacy protocols, clarify billing and payer policies, and discuss staffing and clinical competency relative to any specialized care needs before making a placement decision.

While the community prides itself on meaningful social and recreational programs, strong Midwest hospitality, and providing a nurturing, supportive setting that tries to make people feel independent and dignified, it currently isn't accepting new residents.
