    Beautiful community, friendly staff, recommended

I had a very positive tour - the community is beautiful, clean, and well maintained with lovely courtyards and a bright, modern lounge. The staff, especially Nicole, were friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond; activities and dining were engaging and tasty. I'd recommend this community to others considering senior living.

    About Legacy Senior Living

Legacy Senior Living sits over on S Scott Blvd in Iowa City, IA, and it's a place where folks can find different kinds of care as they age and their needs change, so you'll see independent living, assisted living, memory care, and even continuing care all under one roof or nearby, which really helps families stay in one place if someone needs more help down the road. You'll see large apartments-studios, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom-laid out in floor plans called things like Eisenhower, Eagle, Patriot, and Victory, usually with full kitchens, washers and dryers, and climate controls, which is nice when someone wants to keep a bit of independence there, and they have smoke and fire detectors for safety. The dining rooms are lively, and the kitchen staff, including chefs and planners, make three meals a day for independent living folks and care a lot about using good ingredients, and there's even an ice cream parlor here, which people seem to appreciate on warm afternoons or just because.

They offer support for activities of daily living-things like bathing, dressing, and managing medications-through the assisted living program, and there's memory care for those living with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia: that support gets tailored so each person gets what they need. They've got on-site skilled care for folks who need more than the average assisted living help, and for those coming for a short while, they provide respite care. The staff is known to have experience and knowledge, and they focus quite a bit on residents' privacy and dignity while still keeping things safe, secure, and comfortable, always listening when there are changes in health or a need for more support.

There's a friendly atmosphere and a sense that people look out for each other, and you'll notice amenities designed for comfort and ease like underground parking-which goes especially appreciated in bad weather-handicap accessible spaces, high-speed Wi-Fi, and a beauty salon and barber shop, alongside a fitness room, theater, library, billiards, and a Whirlpool spa for relaxation. There's organized transportation if someone needs to get to appointments or just doesn't drive anymore. Even though folks say activities aren't as many as some might hope, there's still good energy in the common rooms, walking paths, and social programs, and the dining area is a spot where folks gather and chat.

Legacy Senior Living has won awards for care and staff hospitality, which gives some peace of mind, and the staff tries to make senior living affordable with financial options and clear information to help families plan. The emergency response system is on around the clock, and the pet-friendly rules mean many residents keep their animals nearby. People choosing Legacy get the benefit of a campus that feels like one big, connected community, with everything from basic help to more advanced medical care, and even though no place is perfect, this one does a steady job keeping an eye on changing needs and making sure people can enjoy life, keep some independence, and know there's someone ready to help if ever they need it.
