    Excellent caring staff and services

I placed my mom here because it's close to home and well regarded - I'm very pleased with her care. The staff are caring, know residents by name, and standout employees like Scott and nurse Jennifer have been especially helpful. Meals are enjoyable, activities and rehab services are plentiful, the room and grounds are well kept, and I highly recommend this facility.

    Summary of reviews

Reviewers present a mixed but informative picture of Solon Nursing Care Center. Positive comments emphasize compassionate nursing, personalized attention, and structured clinical oversight for conditions such as diabetes. Several families praised the rehabilitation services, welcoming reception staff, and specific caregivers who provided consistent communication and daily updates. Cleanliness and upkeep of rooms and public spaces were noted as strengths, and outdoor amenities — including a courtyard and garden patio — along with on-site exercise equipment and activity programming, contribute to a resident-focused environment.

Care quality is described in largely favorable terms by many reviewers: nurses and aides are characterized as caring, attentive, and able to accommodate dietary needs. The facility appears to support family involvement through regular care-review meetings and proactive updates. Rehabilitation and therapy services receive positive mention and are viewed as welcoming and effective. Dining receives mixed-to-positive feedback overall, with several reviewers stating meals are enjoyed and dietary accommodations are available.

At the same time, a recurrent set of operational concerns appears across comments. Several families raised issues consistent with understaffing: delays in responding to call lights, inconsistent assistance with personal care tasks (such as bathing and toileting), and variability in attentiveness between shifts. These concerns are linked by reviewers to higher staff turnover and what they described as uneven management oversight. A few reviewers also cited intermittent lapses in meal delivery or supervision during meal times. Room size is another practical limitation noted by multiple individuals; private rooms are described as small, which may affect comfort and storage.

Management and leadership receive mixed assessments. Some reviews highlight dedicated and communicative administration and nursing leadership, while others point to management instability or perceived weaknesses in safety oversight and staff conduct management. This creates a polarized impression where the experience can depend on specific staff on duty and recent turnover. A small number of comments expressed broader safety and trust concerns; prospective families may wish to ask the facility about staffing ratios, staff retention initiatives, and incident- and safety-reporting practices during a tour.

For families considering Solon Nursing Care Center, the facility offers several clear strengths: attentive clinical care for chronic conditions, active rehab services, good cleanliness, an engaging activities program, and pleasant outdoor spaces. However, it would be prudent to verify current staffing levels, inquire about recent turnover, observe shift handoffs if possible, and confirm room dimensions and meal-service logistics. Direct conversations with the director of nursing about communication protocols, response-time goals, and supervision practices will help set expectations and identify whether the facility’s operational consistency aligns with a prospective resident’s needs.

    About Solon Nursing Care Center

Solon Nursing Care Center sits in the community with a history of service that started back in 1972, and the place was built in 1973 by local people, so it's run by a volunteer board of directors and that sort of shapes how things get done. People find a mix of care options here, with independent living condos called Terrace Lane and Terrace Lane Glen if folks want to live on their own, assisted living in the Solon Assisted Living Village, and more hands-on help inside the main Solon Nursing Care Center. The center offers skilled nursing for round-the-clock needs, plus specialized support like memory care for people with dementia, palliative care for comfort, and wound or IV therapy for those who need it.

The rooms give residents a variety of choices, though it's important to know some rooms are small and sometimes need extra equipment for comfort or medical care, but there's a home-like feeling that a lot of people appreciate. If someone likes sitting outside, there's a nice courtyard with chairs and outdoor spots for fresh air, and inside the building there're separate dining spaces and community areas for gathering or joining in on activities. Folks often go to music events, use the exercise equipment, or tend to the garden patio, so life stays active if you want it to be. There are weekly religious services on-site for anyone who wants to attend.

Staff here work hard to treat residents with respect and kindness, keeping up regular meetings with families about how things are going, and paying a lot of attention to each resident's preferences, whether that's dietary needs or what kind of daily help they need. Nurses and aides help with medications, assistance with daily life needs, and provide long-term or short-term rehabilitation, and there's a big therapy rehab center on-site with physical, occupational, and speech therapy available, and people can get outpatient therapy too even if they live off-site. Long-term nursing care, skilled nursing rehabilitation, and specific support for wound care are available, and the staff pays close attention to preserving dignity and comfort. Dr. Scott Eberly serves as the facility's medical director.

The campus runs on traditions that put people first, so there are programs and named services that stick to those roots, and being community-owned means decisions tend to have residents in mind rather than outsiders. There's free WiFi, which some folks like, and the whole place is certified for Medicare and Medicaid which helps with paying for care. Management has a lot of experience handling all sorts of needs, and the focus stays on helping folks feel as independent and safe as possible, for as long as possible, whether someone's in for a short rehab or living there long-term.
