    Spacious, affordable, friendly senior living

I live here in a roomy two-bedroom with a patio and lots of closet space - the beautiful, secure facility in a great location really sets the bar, is affordable, and has everything I want. Staff are friendly, empathetic and solution-oriented; there's always something going on, heated indoor parking, an on-site post office, Meals on Wheels, outside housekeeping and many amenities, so I'd happily recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive: Thomas Place at Waukee is portrayed as an attractive, well-maintained independent living community with wide appeal. Reviewers consistently highlight the facility’s beauty, cleanliness, and abundance of amenities, and many describe a desire to move in or recommend it to family members. Ratings are reported as excellent (5/5 across categories by at least one reviewer), and multiple comments emphasize that the community "sets the bar" and "has everything I want."

Facilities and apartments are a recurring strength in the reviews. Specific praise is given to the two-bedroom apartments — described as nice and spacious with lots of closet space — and to apartment patios. The property is noted as being large and well-appointed, with an on-site post office and heated/indoor parking, which reviewers found particularly convenient. Security and a clean, well-kept appearance are emphasized repeatedly, contributing to a strong first impression and ongoing resident satisfaction.

Staff, management, and overall care quality receive uniformly positive mentions. Reviewers use words like friendly, helpful, empathetic, solution-oriented, and supportive to describe staff and leadership. Several comments point out that needs and requests are addressed promptly, and families have been comfortable recommending the community based on staff responsiveness. The tone across reviews is one of gratitude and confidence in the team’s ability to manage resident needs in an independent living setting.

Community life and activities are another major strength. The facility is described as having an active social calendar — "always has something going on" — which appeals to prospective and current residents looking for engagement. Reviewers emphasize the volume and variety of activities, suggesting a lively social environment appropriate for independent living where residents can find frequent opportunities for participation and social interaction.

Practical services and extras also contribute to the positive picture. Availability of Meals on Wheels and outside housekeeping are noted, offering flexible support options. Heated/indoor parking and an on-site post office are practical conveniences that reviewers singled out as valuable. These logistical amenities, combined with the central location noted by reviewers, make the community convenient for both residents and visiting family.

Notable patterns and limited concerns: complaints are rare in the provided summaries, and reviewers explicitly stated they had no complaints in some cases. The primary negatives mentioned are small shower cubicles in the apartments and a pet policy that does not allow cats. These are specific, limited issues rather than broad criticisms, and they may matter more or less depending on an individual’s priorities (e.g., pet ownership or mobility/accessibility needs in the bathroom).

In conclusion, the reviews portray Thomas Place at Waukee as a high-quality independent living option with strong amenities, attentive staff, an active social environment, and good practical services. The overwhelmingly positive sentiment, high ratings, and multiple recommendations to families suggest it is meeting or exceeding expectations for many residents. Prospective residents should consider the small shower cubicles and the no-cat policy if those are important factors, but otherwise the consensus is that this community offers a secure, supportive, and well-run independent living experience.

    About Thomas Place at Waukee

Thomas Place At Waukee is a senior living community in Waukee, Iowa, that offers a range of care and housing for older adults aged 55 and up, and you can see right away that they've got independent living apartments, assisted living, and memory care services for folks who need extra help day to day or who are living with dementia, and let me tell you, their community has room for people from outside the area to come join at any care level that fits their situation. This community opened in 2011 and has 116 units in one- and two-bedroom layouts, with each apartment including things like a private balcony, washer and dryer, big closets, and kitchens with granite countertops and full appliances, so you're not missing out on comfort or storage, and they've added details to make getting around simple, like wide halls, elevators, and wheelchair access everywhere you'd need it. The common areas stand out with comfortable seating, stone fireplaces, and coffered ceilings, which make them pleasant spaces for socializing, and there's a fitness center, arts and crafts room, library with a PC center, and a pool table to fill up your days if you want to keep busy or just pass some time with others. You'll find heating, air conditioning, and a smoke-free environment, plus indoor heated parking for those Iowa winters, and they have secured entries and on-site management and maintenance to keep things running and safe. For folks who might worry about healthcare or getting help with daily tasks, the staff are fully trained and can help with bathing, dressing, medication management, or simply being around if you need a little help, especially in the dedicated memory care area for those dealing with memory loss, and their lifestyle program looks to celebrate mind, body, and spirit, encouraging folks to do as much as they can for themselves while giving support when it's needed. Transportation and parking options are available if you want to get out for doctor visits, shopping, or dining, and the location is right near places that older adults often need, like pharmacies and grocery stores, which makes things much easier. Thomas Place At Waukee is recognized in the region for providing compassionate care and clinically sound services, and it doesn't stand on ceremony with its approach, focusing instead on meaningful living, social connections, and helping everyone feel like they've got something to contribute, and if you're looking for more details about lease options, rental rates, or property history, there are plenty of reports you can review. The community's hours are Monday from 11:00 to 17:00, and Tuesday and Friday from 09:00 to 17:00.
