    Pleasant community; caution with memory-care

I'm overall pleased - a lovely, clean and safe community with many activities, caring and helpful staff, good meals most of the time, and responsive maintenance/housekeeping. That said, staffing and training are inconsistent (especially for memory care), administration and family communication can be slow, and transitions/assessments were sometimes delayed. Costs and extra nursing/medication fees stood out, and there are occasional problems with dining service, worn common areas, laundry/internet issues, and missed med timing or showers when understaffed. All in all I'd recommend it for independent/assisted living for the social program and friendly staff, but be cautious about memory-care needs and hidden costs.

    About Celebration Villa of Hearthstone

Celebration Villa of Hearthstone stands on ten rolling acres of Kansas prairie, surrounded by trees, close to the Kansas River and the Flint Hills, and not too far from Stormont Vail Health and St. Francis Health Center, which is good for folks who like knowing medical help is nearby, and the building itself is multi-story, with a front porch supported by white pillars, so you get a welcoming first impression before you even step inside, and once you do, you'll find both indoor and outdoor gathering areas, gardens, walking trails, lush courtyards, common spaces, and a backyard made for relaxing or visiting with family. Residents choose from studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, and these all come with private bathrooms, kitchenettes, spacious closets, cable TV, air conditioning, an emergency alert system, and some have soft carpet and large windows that let in a lot of light, and the community does its best to make things comfortable and secure, from furnishing the rooms to making sure there's high-speed internet, telephone, and a 24-hour call system for emergencies.

Meals happen restaurant-style with three chef-prepared meals a day, and there's anytime dining for those who want to eat on their own schedule, and they do a good job of offering special diets like low sodium, low sugar, or vegan, so folks with special needs don't have to worry, and you can eat in your apartment if you're not feeling well, as tray delivery is offered when a doctor requests it. The dining room is a place where people gather, and there's also an Anytime Café when you want a snack, plus a private dining room for parties or visits. Residents have access to a beautician, a beauty and barbershop, and pet care services too, with dogs and cats welcome in both rooms and outdoor spaces, which often makes things better for animal lovers, and the walking trails and gardens fit right into that.

The community covers several living options, starting with independent living for active folks who want to downsize, assisted living for those needing dependable support with daily things like bathing and dressing, and memory care, which is housed in its own secure building designed purposely for people living with Alzheimer's or dementia, and the place even has a skilled nursing facility for higher levels of care, so you see a range of support onsite. Care levels go from light to heavy, depending on what someone needs, and that might mean help with medication, grooming, toileting, transfers, or reminders for daily tasks, and the staff includes nurses, medication managers, medication techs, and a doctor on call, plus homecare services, visiting physical, occupational, and speech therapists, and podiatrists, while residents who have challenging behaviors, might wander, or deal with memory problems can get help in the memory care neighborhood with secured entry, wearable alert bracelets, and staff trained to support those behaviors.

There's always awake staff on-site all day and night, so someone's available in emergencies, and the staff aims for an approach of empathy and compassion, getting to know each resident's life story, routines, preferences, and abilities through a detailed assessment when moving in, which they use to build a care plan just for that person. Family members, caregivers, and sometimes physicians get involved in these plans. The "Along the Journey" program shapes memory care to fit each person's stage of impairment, and the place supports families through partnerships with groups like Hilarity for Charity for learning about brain health and caregiving. The facility tries to use programs focused on engagement, life enrichment, wellness, and the people living there, and encourages residents to get involved in the daily events, which can be as simple as stretching classes, Tai Chi, and yoga or as creative as art, music, gardening, or book discussions. The activity director is full-time, and community programs run year-round, including outings to parks, shopping, and restaurants, holiday celebrations, trivia games, live music, and cooking events. There are devotional services offered for different faiths onsite and offsite, and both Protestant and Catholic services are part of regular routines.

Families can count on housekeeping, maintenance, laundry, and move-in coordination, so the chores are taken care of, and there's even snow shoveling and bulb changing as needed. For those who need a break from caregiving, or are recuperating, there's short-term respite care and hospice available, along with a concierge for special assistance, parking for residents who drive, and regular transportation. The environment is designed to help residents feel at home, create connections, and enjoy a vibrant social life while getting the support they need, and with spaces like the library, game room, computer room, fitness room, spa, chapel, and walking trails, most people can find something that fits their interests or needs. There's a real effort to allow each resident to keep as much independence as possible while having help close at hand, all under the license number N089030, run by Priority Life Care.
