    Moved mom, caring staff, homey

I moved my mom here and we're very pleased - the staff are friendly, caring and responsive, the facility is clean, safe and well-maintained, and the roomy apartments, restaurant-style dining and robust activities program (salon, outings, walking paths) make it feel like home. Staff helped with the move, communicate well, and I would happily recommend this community.

    Summary of reviews

Brookdale Stonestreet presents a mixed but distinct profile: many families describe a warm social environment, attractive physical plant, and an active calendar, while a subset of families raise significant operational and clinical concerns. The facility's strengths include caring, helpful staff members and an active life-enrichment program with frequent events, outings, and in-house entertainment. Residents and visitors commonly praise the restaurant-style dining room, large common spaces, on-site salon, and well-kept outdoor areas and walking paths. Apartment options (studios and larger units) are frequently described as roomy, bright, and recently renovated.

Care and staffing show variability across reviews. Numerous comments highlight attentive nursing and supportive aides, good family communication in many cases, and on-site rehabilitation services (PT/OT/ST). At the same time, others describe staffing shortages, turnover, and slow responsiveness to assistance requests (including call-button delays). Several families raised concerns about medication-management processes and about gaps in clinical coordination; these indicate an operational pattern that may require closer oversight. The facility is not consistently described as equipped for higher-intensity memory-care needs.

Dining is a polarizing topic. Many residents enjoy the restaurant-like presentation, choice of entrées, and certain menu items and desserts; some family members say meals are appealing even to picky eaters. Conversely, other reviewers describe inconsistent food quality, limited variety, and a preference among residents for more homestyle options. There are also notes about menu-style pricing and additional fees for some services, which affects perceived value for cost.

Activities and community life are generally identified as a strong point. The schedule typically includes trivia, movies, bingo, religious services, shopping and restaurant outings, and community snacks or socials. Life-enrichment staff receive regular praise for organization and resident engagement, though a few reviews describe activities as repetitive or not sufficiently varied for some residents.

Facility condition and amenities are often viewed positively: many mention clean, modern interiors, large bathrooms, elevators, and helpful move-in assistance. However, recurring concerns include inconsistent housekeeping and sanitation practices, odor concerns in some areas, and pest-control issues. Accessibility challenges are also noted in a few locations (heavy doors, multi-door patio egress) that can impede residents using walkers or wheelchairs.

Management and communication elicit divergent impressions. Several families single out specific staff members and administrators for exemplary responsiveness and hands-on problem solving. In contrast, a number of reviews describe slow managerial follow-through, inconsistent communication about care plans and outside therapies, and frustration with perceived prioritization of cost over operational fixes. A few serious incidents described by families (clinical complications, infection-control and pest concerns) indicate that some issues required external intervention or escalation.

Bottom line: Brookdale Stonestreet offers many desirable features — social programming, attractive dining areas, pleasant grounds, and well-appointed apartments — and it has staff members who are praised for compassion and responsiveness. Prospective residents and families should weigh these strengths against recurring operational concerns: variable food and housekeeping quality, staffing and responsiveness inconsistencies, medication-management and coordination gaps, and limited memory-care capability. Visiting multiple times (including mealtimes), meeting nursing leadership, and clarifying staffing levels, medication processes, pest-control protocols, and extra fees will help families assess whether the facility is the right fit for their needs.
