I'm very satisfied with Dionne Commons - the caring, attentive staff made my family member feel safe, comfortable, and at home while keeping us well informed. The facility is clean, affordable (MaineCare accepted), close to medical services, with a nice patio and good food; I highly recommend it.

    Summary of reviews

Dionne Commons presents as an affordable, neighborhood-scale assisted living option that many families find welcoming. The campus location—close to medical buildings and adjacent to a nursing home—plus MaineCare acceptance, are frequently cited as practical advantages. Several reviewers emphasize a family-type atmosphere: many residents and families describe caregivers who are caring, attentive, and effective at making residents feel at home. The facility is generally described as clean and comfortable, with an appealing patio and grounds that support outdoor activity and independence.

Care quality is a mixed picture. Numerous comments praise individual caregivers for attentiveness, good communication with families, and making residents comfortable; these reports suggest strengths in day-to-day personal care and relationship-building. At the same time, other accounts raise operational concerns: staffing instability, uneven staff quality, and what some characterize as clique-like behavior among personnel. There are also explicit concerns about medication-administration practices and about how safety-related issues are handled. These items indicate variability in clinical process consistency and supervision rather than a uniformly positive or uniformly negative pattern.

Dining and activities receive generally positive remarks. Several reviewers express satisfaction with meal quality and note that the facility supports resident independence through accessible outdoor space and a compact, navigable campus. The location near medical services is another frequently mentioned benefit for residents who need regular appointments or access to higher-level care.

The physical plant is a trade-off for affordability. While cleanliness and comfort are commonly noted, the interior decor and finishes are described as dated and in need of updating. Shared rooms are reported as cramped in some units, with limited private-space options; prospective residents should expect smaller shared-room footprints unless a private unit is available.

Management and administrative experience appears uneven. Some reviewers praise on-site supervisors and individual managers, while others report unorganized intake, training shortfalls, staff turnover, and unprofessional interactions with administration or property management. A small number of reviews raise very serious allegations about staff conduct and express reluctance to report concerns; these accounts contribute to a polarized set of impressions across reviewers.

Overall pattern: reviews divide between strong endorsements of the caregiving team and serious operational concerns about staffing consistency, medication practices, and administrative responsiveness. Prospective residents and families would benefit from an in-person visit that includes: a tour of available units (private and shared), a discussion of current staffing levels and turnover, review of medication and clinical oversight protocols, clarification of training and supervision practices, and inquiry into formal complaint/incident reporting procedures. Obtaining references from current resident families and checking recent inspection or certification records will help clarify whether the facility’s strengths align with an individual’s priorities and risk tolerance.

    About Dionne Commons Residents

Dionne Commons Residents is an assisted living community where professional staff, including an administrator, office manager, nurse consultant, and admissions director, speak English and help residents with care that makes people feel respected and understood, and the staff are always ready to lend a hand with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, and medication. The place has furnished private and semi-private apartments, with each resident having comforts like private bathrooms, kitchenettes, cable TV, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and rooms ready to move into so folks can feel at home from the start, and if folks need help moving in, there's move-in coordination available too. The cooks are professional chefs who serve meals in a dining room, preparing dishes that consider food allergies and diabetic needs, and friends or family can visit and join residents for meals as well, which can make a big difference to those who like sharing time over food.

Dionne Commons Residents has a 24-hour call system, emergency alert systems, and offers housekeeping, laundry, and concierge services, so the day-to-day chores are a lot lighter. People can go outside and walk in the gardens or on the walking paths, and there are community amenities like a wellness room, a library, a theater, and arts, music, and game rooms for hobbies and relaxing. The community offers many activities such as fitness programs, movie nights, group outings, music events, scheduled social gatherings, and even activities run by residents themselves, and it encourages people to volunteer and stay active within the community. Transportation is available for doctor visits and outings, which keeps residents connected to the world outside.

Dionne Commons Residents gives care to folks who need regular help, including those needing non-ambulatory care, assistance with transfers, and 12-16 hour nursing, and they focus on medication management and support for living as independently as possible. The community is part of a larger group that includes Coastal Landing, Coastal Shores Assisted Living, and Horizons Living & Rehabilitation Center, so there's a sense of continuity for people who may need different types of care in the long term. Staff can communicate via email for anything from admissions questions to nursing concerns, and they work to create a welcoming place that feels safe and home-like, with plenty of chances for socializing, learning, and relaxing every day. The goal is to let residents keep their independence and dignity, while also giving reliable help and thoughtful support for both residents and their families.
