    Attentive staff, beautiful home-like facility

I stayed here for rehab and was very pleased. The PT team (Jean especially), OT and nursing staff were attentive and often went above and beyond; I felt genuinely cared for. The facility is beautiful, spotless and home-like, with delicious home-cooked meals, regular activities, live music and resident events. Management and caregivers communicated well - a warm, professional community I'd gladly recommend.

    Summary of reviews

Overall sentiment across the reviews is strongly positive, with multiple reviewers describing Leavitt Family Jewish Home as a "gem" and praising both the physical environment and the quality of care. The facility is repeatedly noted for its beautiful campus and home-like atmosphere; reviewers appreciated personalized decor and a smaller, open layout that contributes to a pleasant, comfortable environment. Several comments emphasize that the setting feels safe and caring, and that visits are pleasant.

Care quality and clinical services receive consistently high marks. Reviewers report professional medical and rehabilitation care, including a specifically called-out wonderful rehab experience. Occupational therapy staff (Cherrie and Julie) and a nurse named Kelly were praised by name, as were multiple caregivers (Solomar, Shawnie, Ellen, Dana), indicating that families are forming close, trusting relationships with direct-care staff. Reviewers also cited quick call bell responses and staff described as kind, fun, and very nice — all signs of attentive, responsive frontline caregiving.

Activities, socialization, and daily life are another clear strength. The facility is described as having lots of activities and good opportunities for social interaction; this contributes to residents avoiding unnecessary hospital visits and improves overall quality of life. Dining is mentioned positively ("food very good"), and the community feel — together with engagement opportunities — reinforces reviewers' impressions of an active, supportive environment for residents.

Management and communication are highlighted as a positive theme: reviewers note open and responsive communication with the medical team and administration. That responsiveness appears to build confidence among families and contributes to perceptions of safety and well-coordinated care when it is working well.

The most significant and consistent concern across the reviews relates to medication management. Several reviewers reported medication errors, incorrect dosages, and instances where medications were out of stock. These issues were framed as safety concerns for residents, and stand out as the primary negative pattern amid otherwise strong praise. Because medication errors carry tangible risk, this issue contrasts sharply with otherwise professional care and should be a priority for facility leadership to address.

In summary, Leavitt Family Jewish Home is portrayed as a high-quality, compassionate nursing and rehabilitation setting with a beautiful campus, attentive staff, strong rehab services, engaging activities, and good food. Families appreciate the warm, home-like atmosphere and the individualized attention from caregivers and therapists. However, the recurring reports of medication management and supply problems are a noteworthy and serious concern. Addressing prescription accuracy, inventory control, and related safety processes would align the operational side of the facility with the high standards of caregiving and environment repeatedly praised by reviewers.

    About Leavitt Family Jewish Home

Leavitt Family Jewish Home, which many people know as Julian J. Leavitt Family Jewish Nursing Home, sits in Longmeadow, MA, and serves seniors from the Jewish community and beyond as part of JGS Lifecare. This facility runs as a non-profit and offers a full range of aging services, like assisted living, long-term skilled nursing, memory support and Alzheimer's care, short-term rehab, independent living, and home health and hospice care through its own VNA program. There's also the Wernick Adult Day Health Center and the Sosin Center for Rehab right at the same address. Leavitt Family Jewish Home has a focus on Jewish culture, so residents can take part in religious customs and community events while receiving care from staff trained to provide services with compassion and skill in a home-like setting. Seniors get help with daily living where needed but also can keep independence, enjoy social time with others, and access fine dining in assisted living. For those with memory issues, there are special programs tailored to different stages, and for people leaving the hospital, short-term rehabilitation aims to help them recover and return home when possible. Adult day health services give seniors a safe place to socialize and get medical help when family isn't available during the day. The facility's approach covers many needs that come up as people age, including counseling related to health or transitions in care. Prices can start around $275 and can go up depending on the kind of care; families can get more exact pricing and community details by asking directly or using the free consulting service on the website, and reviews-of which there's currently one, with a 3.0 star rating-are mostly verified for accuracy. Leavitt Family Jewish Home also participates in healthcare safety campaigns and quality committees, works on preventing falls and reducing unnecessary medication use, and tries to support comfort and respect at the end of life. Everything focuses on supporting seniors' needs and helping families find the right fit, whether through skilled nursing, memory support, adult day programs, or help planning future care.
