A recent initiative, the addition of the new Dewitt home, reflects The Chosen Vision’s commitment to enhancing quality of life for its residents. The Dewitt home is a thoughtfully designed 3,800 square foot residence intended to house six high-functioning women with developmental disabilities. The environment is structured to provide a familial atmosphere, aiming to empower its residents by offering a balance of autonomy and support. Each resident is provided with her own private bedroom, designed for personalization and comfort, allowing each individual to express her personality and create a truly personal space.
The residence is staffed consistently to maintain both security and a supportive atmosphere. A full-time staff person is present on site around the clock, in addition to part-time direct care workers, ensuring that the needs and safety of all residents are met at any hour. This approach provides a stable foundation that allows residents to develop life skills and a sense of independence while always having assistance close at hand.
The creation of the Dewitt home is unfolding in stages. Initial fundraising efforts have made it possible to complete the exterior of the building. However, ongoing support is required to move forward with the next phase, including the completion of interior structures like drywall.
