I'm very pleased with this community - the staff are genuinely friendly (they know me by name) and consistently go above and beyond. The building is spotless and well-kept, meals are excellent thanks to a talented chef, and rooms are a comfortable size with large bathrooms. Pets are welcome, activities and outings keep things lively, and overall it feels like a safe, family-like place.

    Summary of reviews

Brentwood at Niles is frequently described as a clean, comfortable community with a strong social atmosphere. Many reviewers praised the welcoming nature of the staff, the visible nursing presence (including a central nurses’ station), and long-tenured caregivers who create a family-like culture. The physical plant—spacious apartments, large bathrooms, outdoor patios, and common amenities such as a salon, exercise area, library and TV/viewing lounges—receives consistently positive comments for cleanliness and upkeep. Several reviews singled out the chef and dining program for high-quality, fresh meals served in a pleasant dining area.

Care and staffing are a central strength for many families: reviewers note attentive, personable staff who call residents by name, provide weekly updates, and engage in social interaction with residents. On-site therapy (OT/PT/Speech) and regular housekeeping are available and appreciated. At the same time, a pattern of inconsistent staffing and turnover emerges in a portion of reviews; this is linked to variability in response times to call buttons and occasional gaps in mealtime assistance. Memory-care suitability is also mixed: while the memory unit is described as secure during visits, some families raised concerns about dementia screening, suitability for higher-acuity cognitive needs, and examples that suggest room for improvement in memory-care protocols.

Dining and activities are generally highlighted as robust. The dining program is frequently called restaurant-quality, with sensible portioning and choices, and the community runs regular programming—daily activities, weekly outings, Family Night and multigenerational events—that contribute to an active social scene. A few reviewers requested more frequent or expanded off-site programming, and some noted intermittent limits in meal options or assistance at mealtime that can affect residents with specific dietary or medical needs.

Facility amenities and safety features are positively described: secure entry systems, coded doors, safe outdoor areas, and a centrally located nursing station. Apartments vary in size and condition; many are updated with fresh carpeting and paint, but some units and common areas were described as showing signs of age or needing additional lighting. The community is pet-friendly and conveniently located, which several families valued.

Management and communication present a mixed picture. Many reviewers commend specific managers and front-line leaders by name and describe helpful, compassionate administrative interactions and an orderly move-in process. Conversely, other reviews describe a perceived shift after changes in ownership/management, citing decreased staff continuity, communication lapses, concerns about contract/billing and refund handling, and perceptions that financial decisions sometimes drive operational choices. Privacy concerns were raised regarding staff entry into apartments without consistent notification. A limited number of reviewers described significant quality or safety concerns in the memory-care context; these comments suggest families should ask targeted questions about dementia assessment, incident response, and refund/contract policies when touring.

Overall, Brentwood offers many strengths—clean facilities, engaging activities, strong dining, and a workforce that many families find warm and attentive. Prospective residents and family members should verify current staffing stability, dementia-care capabilities, medication-assistance protocols, privacy-entry policies, and contract/billing procedures during a visit to ensure the community matches the resident’s clinical and lifestyle needs.

About Brentwood at Niles Senior Living

Brentwood at Niles Senior Living sits in Niles, Michigan and offers a variety of senior care options like independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, home health care, and short-term respite stays, so folks can age in place even as their needs change, and families often talk about how the staff helps guide them through long-term care choices and things like insurance or family caregiving, and the place has a 4.6 rating from 31 reviews. The community has a simple front entrance, wide hallways, and living spaces like a game room, workout area, movie theater, cafe, library, and a small kitchenette in private rooms where residents can bring their own furniture for comfort. Meals come three times a day, made by chefs, sometimes served as room service if needed, with special diets like gluten-free, low sugar, or international foods, and snacks too, plus there are private dining rooms for families to gather. Inside, folks find fireplaces in the shared areas, a friendly backyard with a butterfly garden, walking paths for exercise, and spots for both indoor and outdoor sitting, which helps people feel comfortable moving around, especially for anyone needing a wheelchair or help with bathing.

The staff provides skilled nursing care, support with everyday things like getting dressed or bathing, and help from trained caregivers at all hours, while personalized plans are made for each person's needs, including memory care for Alzheimer's and dementia, and a 24-hour call system gives peace of mind. The memory care wing is called "Along the Journey," focused on kindness and security for those with memory loss. Weekly housekeeping, laundry, and home chores like lightbulb changes or snow removal are included, and scheduled rides to appointments or outings are part of the service, so there's less worry about daily tasks or missing important events.

Residents can join in music, exercise, book groups, outings, gardening, and social gatherings through the Vibrant Life and life enrichment programs, which are meant to help folks stay healthy, meet friends, and remain as independent as possible, whether in assisted living, independent living, or the nursing home. Fitness rooms, devotional services, hair salons, internet and cable in rooms, private parking, and a bistro cafe give a bit of variety to daily routines. Brentwood at Niles focuses on letting folks live with dignity and offers a safe, homelike space for both those who need a lot of help and those who are more independent, with extra support for caregivers and families, so the community does its best, managed by Priority Life Care, to be a steady place for people to spend each stage of later life, and there's a sense here that people and their needs are seen and respected.
