    Warm, professional, caring assisted living

I moved my mom in and I'm very pleased - the staff are warm, professional and attentive, the facility is bright, spotless and well-equipped, and the food (including fresh baked goods) is excellent. The activity calendar is full and social, move-in support and the communication app made coordination easy, and she already feels at home with new friends. I recommend this community for families seeking caring, lively assisted living.

    Summary of reviews

Overall impression: Cedarhurst Senior Living of Edison Lakes presents as a well-appointed, recently updated assisted- and independent-living community with many operational strengths. Reviewers frequently praised the direct-care staff for compassion and professionalism, accessible leadership, and robust social programming. Apartments are commonly described as spacious with kitchenettes, and the facility offers a range of on-site services such as salon/barber, rehabilitation therapy, housekeeping, transportation, and flexible restaurant-style dining hours. Families highlighted move-in support, an active Welcoming Committee, and strong resident socialization as important positives.

Care and staff: Clinical and caregiving staff receive repeated positive mentions for attentiveness, medication administration by nursing personnel, and individualized attention. Several reviewers noted long-tenured leaders and approachable directors who facilitate care coordination. At the same time, there is a recurring operational pattern of staffing shortages and turnover, particularly among nursing and maintenance personnel. This has been associated with limits on providing higher-acuity care, scope-of-practice constraints (no 24/7 RN coverage in some cases), and variable front-desk responsiveness. Prospective families should clarify current staffing levels, after-hours clinical coverage, and escalation pathways for changes in a resident's condition.

Dining and activities: The restaurant-style dining model with menu ordering and flexible meal times is a clear strength for many residents; numerous accounts describe enjoyable meals, daily baked goods, and accommodating servers. Conversely, other accounts describe inconsistency in meal quality, limited menu variety at times, and dining-room understaffing that can lead to slower service or cold meals. Activity programming is a strong point overall, with many clubs, exercise classes, field trips, live entertainment, and spiritual services; however, availability and variety of activities appear to fluctuate, and some reviewers described limited offerings depending on timing or staffing.

Facilities and operations: The community benefits from recent renovations, clean and attractive public spaces, maintained grounds, and convenient proximity to medical offices and shopping. Move-in services, security measures, and family communication tools were noted positively. Operational concerns that arise in several accounts include inconsistent housekeeping standards, intermittent Wi‑Fi reliability, and indoor air-quality issues following renovation work. There are also mentions of privacy-protocol inconsistencies (staff entering rooms without consistent notice) and constrained outdoor common areas for residents who prioritize outdoor space.

Management and notable patterns: Leadership and many front-line staff are widely praised for responsiveness and resident-centered care; however, multiple reviewers flagged patterns around billing disputes, charge transparency, and broader concerns about corporate oversight. There are also indications that management changes and staff turnover have affected continuity for some families. Given this mixed pattern, prospective residents and families should ask detailed questions about fee structures, billing dispute resolution, medication- and pharmacy-coordination processes, internet reliability, and the facility's ability to support higher levels of clinical need or memory-care transitions.

Bottom line: Cedarhurst Edison Lakes offers a warm, service-rich environment with substantial strengths in social programming, dining flexibility, and supportive staff leadership. Those considering placement should weigh these strengths against operational variability in staffing, dining execution, housekeeping consistency, clinical coverage limits, and specific administrative concerns. Direct questions and on-site verification about current staffing ratios, 24/7 clinical coverage, billing practices, Wi‑Fi performance, and post-renovation environmental safety will help families assess fit for a particular resident's needs.
